Question about HP PSC 1510 All-In-One InkJet Printer

3 Answers

Won't work, "Colour" indicator + "Check cartridge" indicators blinking all the time when the printer is on, although the colour cartridge is only half-full. And when I say "won't work", I mean it - won't respond to caliberating or copying commands and even scanning which has nothing to do with catridges, if I press "scan", the "power" button just blinks fast a couple of times and ignores my request. Also, the "number of copies" indicator has set itself to "E". I've no idea what set it off, I just wanted to print something and it wouldn't all of a sudden and I got this picture... Can anyone help me?

Same with me - just started today.

    Thank you for your comment.

I tried taking the cartridges out like you advised and printing the the test page and the printer keeps ignoring me. I checked the status of printer and it states that "HP device is turned off" although it's on and all the cables are plugged in. Does this mean the problem isn't the cartridges? We wanted to buy a new colour cartridge just in case but if it won't print even with the black one, the printer must have died.

The only thing that works for me is scanning via Windows program...

gordysteil - did it work for you then? ;)

I replaced it with a CANON PIXMA multifunctional device a few days ago, didn't want to go for another HP one as they seem to run into problems like mine a lot. Shame.

I was given an HP 1510 and the same thing...color is blinking, and check cartridge is blinking...I filled the color cartridge but nothig changed. It does scan for me though. Curious

The magenta was out in my color cartridge so the COLOR light kept blinking. I could tell because cleaning the ink jets on the cartridge showed green (only yellow and blue). Since I NEVER print color, I put some black refill into the magenta hole and the error went away. I'll never get another HP because the color cartridge should never, ever stop you from printing in black. My business came to a standstill for no reason at all!

I had the same problem and I accidentally found out that if you press the cancel/resume button + the color scan, the printer starts printing a test page I had never seen before (includes error codes and stuff?!?!) and color as well as black comes out perfect but it will go back again into color cartridge problems after printing. Could it be something with the printer software itself? Hell, I am kind of getting sick with HP products. They are overrated and cannot be serviced. Kinda disposable printer although it was being sold as medium range all in one printer.

Try a different cartridge?

Posted on Feb 04, 2008

Try to replace the problematic cartridge OR remove it.
This printer can work with only one cartridge in Windows BUT the Stand-alone copier wouldn't work.
Remove the left cartridge and print a test page from windows, ignore the errors shown ("Left cartridge missing" from the HP toolbox), if it prints OK, the cartridge is good.
Replace the cartridge and remove the right one, try printing again to test the cartridge.

Also try cleaning the cartridge contacts in the printer and in the cartridge itself.

You can continue using the printer AND the scanner FROM windows, using the TWAIN interface from any compatible program (not using the HP bloated an unefficient ones)

If the printer is powered on and in "Ready" or "Error" condition and if it's not detected by Windows, it has a problem with the USB port or a general internal problem. Your printer needs to be serviced or replaced.

The printer's main IC is broken, the printer needs to be serviced or replaced.

How do i change the colour cartridge for a epson style c42+ printer - if i press the red LED button for 6 secs only the black cartridge comes into the open.! how do i get the colour cartridge into view ?

after the black cartridge moves to the ink changing position, push the 'ink' button one more time to move the carriage to the position to replace the colour cartridge. in some cases this will only work when the printer indicates that the color cartridge is empty.

its ok I solved it! I didn't realise that all the photo cartridge does is gloss over the colour picture produced by the colour cartridge. I simply had to replace the colour cartridge which had run out, so now its all working perfectly!!

Stopped printing in colour

If you don't use the color on a fairly regular basis (once a day), the cartridge tends to dry out and plug up. You can try and wipe the cartridge outlets with a damp cloth or even use a little alcohol, and run the cleaning feature several times, but may well have to just replace the cartridge.
