Question about Refrigerators

JennAir JC2289AE Refridgerater Grinding Noise ??

The fridge seems to be working properly (both fridge and freezer) the noise is coming from the fridge side up at the top near the panel where the lights are located. It is kind of like a grind or a buzz last 30seconds to 3 or 4 minutes...Not sure what it could be. Removed the panel below the lights to take a peek but can't see much without removing more of what is up there? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated at this time!!

Thanks for the post! I am sure of the model number is on the Sticker inside the fridge door panel. I too had trouble locating it on the web though.

I have a LONG slider at the top above the lights (near where the sound is coming from it controls the fridge and frezer and starts with COLD and goes to COLDEST. We have it set pretty close to the if we go any higher it freezes the food in fridge.

I was pretty sure your first answer was going to be the one I was going to get. I am also fairly certain this is the same problem we had fized in May of 05. I think it started like this, got ignored then the frost built up really bad, the fridge started getting warmer and the ADC was bad...hours of defrosting followed! Cost a fortune!

Thinking of replacing the ADC myself this time. Is this possible? Is there anyway to know for sure this is the problem this early in the game? and would the thing really go bad this soon again? The fridge was new in March 2000.

I think I am just going to replace it! Better safe than sorry. Ordered the part today! Might test once we take it apart to replace...but don't want to take it apart twice!

You were GREAT! Thanks for your advice!

If you think of any other points feel free to add them!

Just a follow up. Our new ADC board arrived off to the races we went to replace. We opted out of testing it first since we were pretty certain it was the problem! After removing the old ADC we noticed a fair amount of white (calcium?) deposits on various areas of the board...further leading us to believe we were right. it took about 15 minutes to uninstall and replace all parts and we are plugged in and ready to see if all is well!

    Should be!

    Thanks again for your help.

I can't find a diagram on this model.are you sure it is this the one with the two long slide levers to adjust the temp for fridge and freezer?if so,the sound will be coming from the right in the back.some describe it almost as a motor sound.generally that is the sound of the defrost should not do that.that is a early warning sign of trouble and soon frost will develop on the lower freezer wall.replace the board.if it the one with two nobs on the left for temp adjust, then you probally have a noisy damper(the doorway between the fridge side and freezer that lets in cold)without more info, its hard to say

i am not sure how comfortable you are around electricity or how handy you are but i can walk you through the test and if you want to try it,then fine.first thing i do is take out those light bulbs(they get very hot fast and can burn you easily).drop the white panel(there is a clip that needs to be popped on the bottom rear.look for the slot)there are two 1/4 inch screws that hold the plastic support for the thermostat levers.remove them and the to the light sockets are two more screws(one on each side).the last one should be in the back next to the water filter(if you have may need to remove it to see the screw.)also two screws diagonally apart in the right rear(in the bottom of the white panel that you are taking down.they hold the adc board in place.)ok now ya got the pnel dow and can see the little board in the rear.looking at the board, the harness comes out of the top.on the older boards, the two pins from the left say L1 and test.on the newer ones they say L1 and door.i use and insulated alligator clip to jump across the two pins.if it starts makink the ticking sound, replace not let the clip jumper across anything besides those two pins.a small philips works well not forget that this board is live and will zap always,i recomend that you unplug it before you start and after you connect the jumper, plug it back in only to test it

The water dispenser in our GE side by side fridge model gss25wsti made a loud grinding noise and stopped working Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions

First the water dispenser will not make any grinding noise while dispensing water perhaps a hum. The grinding noise is from the auger motor which dispenses crushed ice ad ice cubes. So please check the intake valve at the rear of the fridge if its working, if not you may have to replace the intake valve. Or if that"s ok please check the control module on the door of the freezer.

My fridge made a horrible grinding noise. When it

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid

Amana Bottom Freezer door when shut starts a noise

The light is switched on and off by a small lever which is pushed when closing or opening the door. This operates a microswitch. It would not make any grinding noise. Grinding noise can come from the fanmotor which would also stop when the fridge door is open.

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

Loud buzzing noise from inside Jenn Air 2389G fridge

i don't know jennair specifically being from england.
however, there is often a fan inside the back panel and the noise you heard was the fan hitting ice. the reason now not heard and fridge not working may be that the ice has built up so much the fan is jammed

LG refrigerator makes loud noise and then stops running.

You are seriously frozen up. Defrost the unit completely. Then, be aware that 'window shopping', leaving uncovered liquids in the box and poor door sealing (too heavy a load on the door ... too much on shelves) can cause condensation. Defrost with hot air or leave unplugged and open for about 2 days. You'll see alot of water come out.
