Re: washing machine problems

Is the spinner inside color black? this might be the cause you have black marks.

i suggest you buy a replacement for that spinner.

How do i replace the agitator in my old heavy duty whirlpool washing machone?

The Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washing machine is atop-loading clothes washer. The washer has several cycles to choose from, including cycles for washing normal clothes, permanent press items, delicateand items marked "Hand Wash." To do its job, thewashing machine relies on an agitator, located in the center of the wash tub.The agitator rotates during the wash cycle, moving the clothes around the washtub so that they are cleaned equally. If the agitator is broken, it will notsufficiently agitate the clothes and must be replaced. ·1 Unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet or turn off the power supplyin your service panel. · 2 Open thewashing machine lid and remove any clothes remaining inside. · 3 Remove thefabric softener cup by squeezing the bottom lip of the cup and lifting itstraight off. · 4 Pry theagitator cap off of the top of the agitator with a flat-head screwdriver. · 5 Remove thebolt at the bottom of the agitator, using the socket wrench with extension, andthen remove the agitator from the washing machine. Tip the agitator to removethe bolt and washer. · 6 Install thenew agitator onto the drive shaft. · 7 Secure thenew agitator with the bolt that you originally removed. · 8 Press theagitator cap and fabric softener cup back into position on top of the newagitator. · 9 Restore powerto the washing machine to complete the repair.

Leaves white marks on coloured clothes

I'd try putting the machine on a hot fill wash, max water level put in half a cup of baking soda when the machine starts to washer turn it off and leave it to soak overnight, then let it finish the cycle the next day. Also make sure you tip some of the hot water down the beach dispenser and clean all around the top of the machine

My hoover hnl 6166 washer sometimes leaves brown streaks/marks on clothes.Help!

Hello Ryandc,
Welcome to fixya,

How old is the front load washer?

Front load washers have this problem no matter what brand or how much you paid for them, IF you are putting to much detergent in them.
The front loaders call for HE (High Efficent) detergent which is concentrated and needs less.
Or especially any liquid detergent not HE you must use use less.
To much causes the seal and bearing to wear out prematurely,
And or the front seal of the door to deteriorate into the water which can cause these stains on your clothes!!

Under these circumstance's they will go in about 5 years!
The only other time I saw colored streaks was when a guy left a pen in his pocket and that was for only one wash!
How old is the washer and did you buy it new?

I'm sorry I could not be the bearer of better news!
God bless You! Huuum

Here is an article I just read that you may find interesting!

Repair or replace?
When to pull the plug on your old washer
Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.
Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your washer,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.
Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.
If your washer is under warranty or less than four years old ,
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that washers under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.
If your washer is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.
When it pays to replace.
The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new washer.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive washer
eight or more years old.
Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of washers you replace are likely to end up in a landfill.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help!

Rust stains and bleach spots.

I'm sorry but the white spots will be due to bleach. It may be that there was undissolved bleach in the washer after the first load. Maybe some of it came out with the whites and lay in wait in the basket.

I doubt the makers would guarantee anything for 7 years, so no free basket or installation is likely. Seems there is a chip in the enamel and dampness / water from the previous wash days before sits there collecting iron as rust particles.

For the time being you could try rinsing the machine out before the first load. That might prevent the rust marks or reduce them.

Black mark on clothes after washed in Maytag top load washer.

Check and make sure the seal at the bottom of the washer is not wore out. Alot of times you will get grease from the bearins and drum assembly if this wears out.

Whirlpool calypso washer black streaks

to all that are having a problem with these calypso washers... if you have paid for a repair then you need to check out the lawsuit... and see if it applies to you.
but if you are getting a mark or a residue on your clothes, then look at the inner wash plate gasket, where it meets with the outer stainless steel tub. if there is a gap between the gasket and the tub then thats where the marks are coming from.
it happens alot and thats not covered by the settlement, but its not too bad to replace the inner wash plate. you need to remove the cabinet, then the tub cover and the innerwash plate dome. then 6 screws and the cover will come off.
replacing the inner wash plate will solve the stains and get you a few more years of use until you have to buy a new washer as more items may fail.
