-   This is also a problem for me as well. I have three seperate small networks using QB in multiuser mode. I spend an hour a day restarting services to get QB freed up repeatedly. I'll keep my eye on this post, and thank anyone who can help fix this :) Holding down ctrl while launching seems to be working for my users currently.-   azangara

-   I am having the exact same problem right now. Apparently, something changed today with some server connection the software makes. It's the only explanation for everyone encountering the problem TODAY. I just hope they get on with fixing it... I need to get into it NOW.
-   I am having the same problem. The program starts to load then there is no response. When I go to Task Manager, it says that the program is running. When I try to quit the program through Task Manager, it says the the program is waiting for a resonse from me.
-   i have same problem. when quickbooks opens, i cant do anything. i click on it when it looks like it is open and the computer just makes a noise.-   kgrutz
I had exactly the same problem - a window announcing QuickBooks 2009 was trying to open (I could see the title of the phantom window, "Upgrade to QB 2009", while switching applications with Alt-Tab), but failed and remained invisible.
QuickBooks continued stuck frozen while opening. Since I know that QB is based on Internet Explorer, I checked for updates, etc., relaunched things, but no dice.
The trick with Alt-F4 managed to close the phantom QuickBooks message box and the program successfully loaded.
I got this solution off the official site forums. This worked for me hope it does the same for you guys.
"Thanks for the post. Let me start by apologizing for this. We had sent
out a message concerning IE7 and QuickBooks. What is going on is a
dialog box is trying to load, but it is not loading completely.
Windows is waiting for a response from this dialog box, that can't be
seen. What we should be able to do to work around this for now is to
press Alt-F4 at the same time. This should force this window that has
not loaded correctly to close. Now we should be able to work in
QuickBooks without any trouble. If this does not work we may want to
hold the CTRL key down while double clicking on the QuickBooks Icon.
The first solution I have seen not work only once."

I just installed Quickbooks Pro 2009 and am trying to view the tutorials. Every time I try to open a tutorial, QB tells me I need to download the macromedia flash player. Which I have successfully done directly from the given link. Intuit and Adobe support are both less than helpful! Please help!
