Question about Home Theater Systems

Open Question

Zenith z712b I have a Zenith Z712B home theater audio system. I have bought several all in one remotes in order to reduce the 6 that it takes to control my entertainment system but as of yet my home theater system is not found on any of the all in one remotes. I have called the consumer service hotline and they tell me that my zenith dosen't show up in any of there databases. I have searched all over the internet with no results. I keep buying these multi remotes but even with the new learning remote, I have not had results. Can you help or am I forced to buy an off brand that will work? Thanks Ed

SOURCE: I need device codes

It seems like most (maybe all) Sony HTIB do not work with the Comcast Custom Remote. I've found a work around that fixes the volume control and power button though. Hope it helps you all. I have a DAVHDX275 but I think this will work for most Sony HTIB systems.

What you need to do is steal some codes from a like product and then hardcode in the changes you need to the comcast remote. Set your AUX to 21232 (a sony code for TV/VCRs).

Then do the following:

1. While still on AUX, press and hold SETUP again until the remote blinks twice
2. Type 994
3. Press and release SETUP
4. Type 32975
5. Press and release VOL+
The remote should blink twice. That should reprogram the VOL+ to work with your Sony HT device. For each of the following function codes, follow the same steps and use the codes listed below:
Vol+ = 32975
Vol- = 31951
Power = 32719
Good luck. Let me know if it works.

SOURCE: Sony DVD Home Theater System remote control code

I have the same system and one of my dogs got to the remote. I have a philips PMDVR8/PDVR8 universal remote. I was able to get the dav-hdx265 to turn on/off and do volume up and down by using code 0200. I have not been able to get the DVD functionality to work yet, but I will post if I do.

How can i get the RCA zenith universal remote for medion dvd combo Home Theater Systems

You need to check with the remote manufacturer. On a lot of basic universal remotes there are no codes for combo units. You may need the original remote or a high end universal remote such as The harmony from creative.

I have lost my remote to my DVT312 surround system. Can I purchase another remote?

Hey, why don't you try the LG website. Zenith I believe is owned by Lucky Goldstar Americans don't own it any more. the Koreans do. There is a
Zenith building somewhere in or near Lincolnshire, Illinois. It's probably 2-3 min drive from intersection of Ill route 22 and Ill route 21 (Milwaukee ave) south and west of that intersection.

Universal remote programming

Since Insignia is really Zenith, a universal remote that can work on Zeniths should do the job. I have this converter box and use a RCA universal remote. I code that works is usually reserved for Zenith satellite boxes (5203).

No audio for tv?

Since not all devices have the same in/outputs available, if you are trying to interconnect them, it helps to know the make and model of both, not just one.

There are several possibilities to connect external devices to your 'home theatre' system.
The one we have delivers the best when S-video is used but that requires a separate path for sound.
The standard colors for audio in and outputs are red(=right) and white(= left) and often cables are supplied with the same color coding.

The usual connections will be named 'Line in' and 'Line out.' The outputs deliver specified voltage into a specified load (or termination) and the inputs expect that condition.
This ensures that volume controls act in a sensible manner.

Remove the DVD from the drive, close the door & wait until it says no disk. Press & hold the stop button for 10 seconds. Your screen should pop back up - voila!
