Hi I had this problem myself - other than going to the expensive option of getting a new suction cup, inspect the existing one carefully, and if here is no crack or break in the cup the problem could be caused by some slight distortion of the suction cup caused by it resting on other items in the glove box or similar. the distortion does not need to be much to stop an airtight seal. Here's the solution: Get a bowl of boiling water, soak the suction cup part of the cradle in the boiling water for a few seconds until it goes slightly soft,  remove it from the water and quickly, dry the part. Next quickly (whilst the plastic is still soft) apply the suction cup to the windscreen in the method indicated by the manufacturer -and that is it! The water softens the plastic so that it can be pulled into place by the vacuum of suction cup mechanism.
Hope this is of help to you or anyone with a similar problem

There is a handle which tighten and release the suction cup. Release the handle, wet the suction cup and position the unit onto the windshield and move the handle to the tighten position. If you are trying to just stick the unit onto the windshield, this will not work.

I suggest that you clean the surface from particles and when its already clean, try damping it with water, but not too much.

hope this helps.

Bagless canister falls out

Hi Jane,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If the cyclone assembly doesn't seem to fit securely in place, you might find it helps to check the user guide supplied with your machine to make sure everything is correctly assembled and positioned. In case you don't have this to hand, you can download a copy here:

If you're sure everything is correctly assembled but cannot resolve the issue, it's probably best if you get in touch with our Helpline. They'll be able to run through some troubleshooting checks over the phone with you to make sure nothing is damaged. You can call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

While my driver's side window (2004 Honda Civic) was rolled down at a drivethru, I heard it fall and now it won't roll back up. I can hear the motor trying to roll it up when I press the button, so I...

it must have fallen off its track. you would have to pull the door panel off (usually two-three screws/bolts and about twelve little plastic tabs that break really easy so be gentle.) and carefully place the window back up on its track. be sure its not too far back or too far forward when you tighten it into place or it wont slide properly. be sure not to have you fingers in the way when you test it to be sure it tracks properly before closing everything back up. also be sure not to over tighten the holding brackets (especially in the cold) or you could crack the window.hope this helps

The vacuum does not operate normally, there is no suction, where can I get it service. We live in Toronto, it was purchased this fall.

If there's no suction, you should first check the User Manual for how to clear blockages (this is the most common suction-loss problem). If you're certain there are no blockages, the machine is still within its warranty period so you should return it to the place where you bought it.

Sticking my nuvi 260W to windshield - after a few days often in sun [winter/spring Mass.] thesuction cup mount falls of to dashboard- risking damage to nuvi. advice? without having to use permanent...

Here is what I do. I clean the spot on the windshield very good with Windex or another good window cleaner. I also clean the suction cup surface while I am doing the windshield. Next I place the GPS next to the Rearview Mirror. and connect the suction cup. Then I take the power cord and use it to tie a knot around the suction cup mount and then I loop it around the Rearview mirrow twice leaving no slack between the GPS and the Mirror. Be sure to not block you view in the mirror. If the GPS come loose from the windshield it will just fall far enough for the power cable to catch it and will just be swiing there instead of falling to the dashboard or floor. This is kind of a Mickey Mouse way to do things but it works.

Wireless thermo clock not reading outside temp

I've had a similar problem with another model, an Oregon Scientific Model IWA-80055 Wireless Thermo Clock, in which when I replaced the batteries in the remote sensor, the clock would not read the temperature from the remote sensor.
I found it fairly consistent to solve this by taking a battery out of place in the clock and putting it back in.  Unfortunately this also messed up the clock's time and date.  This is also in the instructions catalogue for the device, check and see if yours gives a similar solution.

LG GPS not suctioning to windhield

You must clean the window area using windex, or other cleaner, and wipe until dry. A clean winshield area provides the best suction, from the mounting bracket.

Slide the mounting bracket switch to Off & On a few times, make sure the suction cup is able to move(slightly) and that the small tap is facing the area with the notch in the metal.
After putting the switch to the middle, moisten the suction cup slightly
(saliva works bestter than water for some reason)
press it to the window with a slight amount of pressure
then move the switch, (Which should be set to Center!)
to lock it on firmly.

If this doesn't work, then there is a good chance the suction cup has become hardened by the sun. If that is the situation, you'll have to contact LG
(or a place that sells "knock off" brackets to get a replacement.)

I never leave my LG GPS in the car, when not in use. Even the bracket comes out, as I've seen what the sun can do to damage those plastic suction cups, fortunately, I learned it on a $5 replacement set for a Radar detector/Emergency Vehicle Alert device, and not a more expensive bracket.

Suction cup problem

Make sure your windshield and the bottom of the suction cup is clean. Clean it with some warter & detergent and wipe dry. Try wetting the bottom of the suction cup before applying it to the window.

I recommend not using the window mount. I recommend using the dash friction mount. You take the risk of cracking your LCD screen when it falls.

1. The dash friction mount will not fall.
2. It's easily removable/
3. It's legal in all 50 states (window mount is not).

Power Door Lock Problem

The last post by maddog1321 was exactly what I had with my right rear door. The electric locks would not lock and unlock, and you almost couldn't do it manually without my feeling I was about to break something. I took the door panel off, oiled everything and got no relief. Finally, I saw the above post and drilled out the aft-most pop-rivet. THE WINDOW WORKED PERFECTLY! I didn't drill out the forward (closest to the handle) pop-rivet because I wanted to do one at a time so the solenoid would not fall out of place. I then put a new pop-rivet in place of the one I drilled out. I then reinstalled everything and the locks work like new.
