Lights quit The other day my wife move something and the lights underneath the microwave quit working. The bulbs are still good. Is there a fuse that could have blown? The microwave still works as is the interior light.

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

sounds like a cross wire, and a short. I'd inspect the socket for the bulbs to ensure that there's no short circuit.

My MH713OXE light underneath quit working

Check for 110Vac at the center pin of the light socket. If there could be the pin needs to be pulled up a bit so it makes contact with the bulb. If no voltage, most likely relay on board is bad. Be careful around these units they are very dangerous since they have 4000+ volts insde that can easily kill you!

I went to change a light bulb, light bulb pulled out of threads. Tried to remove threads and without turning power off and shorted something out. Underneath lights and fan will not work. The microwave...

I would say you have blown a fuse on the unit. As you now have found out, that's one of the reasons why you unplug any electrical equipment before working on them. You will have to take the outer cover off the microwave and locate where the fuse is. It is most likely on the back of the main PCB or possibly inside a plastic sleeve or mounting near where the cord enters the unit.

GE spacemaker xl 1400, lights on bottom won't work

To Person who answered Best Solution above,
This worked nicely thank you.
After removing my circuit board the long silver strip was intact, however where it makes the turn about quarter inch, the solder or foil seam had a break in it which I filled-gap with solder.
My guess is if the "foil" or thin 2" long strip is serving as a fuse, it would still melt again even with my solder on the shorter section, in event of overload. Also seen on the plastic area directly behind where the circuit board would mount, and where the "foil" was blown, was a small blackened area as evidence of the blown foil. 2 new bulbs and all is well again Thanks!

This is a problem with the control board, which we commonly repair for $32.50. This is caused by not disconnecting the microwave from the power line when removing or installing a bulb.
