Dual monitors in XP Pro - HP Pavilion zd7...

My HP Laptop has the NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 adapter.

I went in to the "display" options in the control panel, and I can see the second monitor (an I-Inc Model CY199) as monitor #2, although Windows sees it as a "plug and play" monitor.

I can get windows to extend to both monitors, however, the image on the CY199 is not quiet as sharp as you'd think it should be.

I have changed the screen resolution to several choices to no avail. I have also gone through the setup of the monitor itself and tried improving sharpness, etc.

The hardware connection off the laptop is your standard VGA connector, the only other choice would be an S-Video connection, which the CY199 doesn't offer. The CY199 does offer DVI-D, but of course my laptop doesn't offer that.

Is this just a symptom of not using a digital conneciton, or is there some software I should download to improve the image?

Just curious.

- I couldn't find one. I tried to search the internet several ways, the sites I went to didn't seem to recognize this manufacturer, I-Inc. or HannStar Display Corp.

I went to both the I-Inc and HannStar web sites. I-Inc was mostly in Chinese, so, if it was there, I didn't know it.

Suggestions on where else to look?

- Hmmm. I can try that. I looked on Radio Shack and Tiger Direct web sites, they are about $65.

I couldn't find much on it either.. it's a shame, the specs of that monitor are pretty good too.

I'll keep digging around and let you know if I find anything.

VGA tends to be a little 'grainy' as opposed to DVI, or the laptops own display.

Did you try installing the driver / inf file for that particular monitor?

in that case u need a video hub, like : display booster. we call it a vga display booster. this may increase the quality of a picture. because when we attach any display unit, the image appears in two portion. it's gain is to low. to make it more sharp, monitor itself add some colour to that picture. the vga signal is fixed from inside of the monitor with resistance, so u can't make any variations in picture. that's why u guys need that VGA booster.
