Does anyone know how I delete a fax in Memory? I often receive faxes in error and stop them as I don't want to waste the ink and paper on them.

received a fax but it did not print message. It seemes that the paper does not feed into the machine. A constant beep is now going and the machine tells me that the memory is full. There should be a six page document in the memory. How can I get the machine to print the document? My model number is KX-FP81C

I can't erase the faxes I already send

Hi There,

While not as popular as they were before the Internet became a principal means of business communication, fax machines are still an essential item in many offices. They are particularly useful on business documents when a signature is needed. Canon makes a number of fax machines that use both ink-jet and laser technology to receive and print documents. Most fax machines store incoming faxes in memory so you can reprint them, but occasionally the memory becomes full resulting in an error message. Your Canon fax machine's memory can be cleared quickly and easily so you can start using it again.

Instructions

* Click the "Menu" button.

* Press the arrow buttons to scroll through the options on the screen. Select
"MEMORY REFERENCE" and click "Start/Copy."

* Use the arrow buttons to choose "DEL. PRINTED RX" then click "Start" again.

Press "*" to select the "Yes" option from the screen. This will delete all documents from the fax machine's memory.

* Click "Stop" to finish.

Our fax machine - panasonic model fp-342 can't received fax due to error display "fax memory full" . How can i fix that?

This fax machine stores the faxes in memory and then prints them out.

If it's unable to print them, is either because there is no paper or no ink.
The memory eventually gets full and stops receiving faxes.

How do I clear out the memory of unwanted fax which is wasting pages of paper & time?

Depends on the make and model of fax machine....if you have a business class machine that is PC connected then the faxs "may" go into memory and you "may" have the option of viewing them on your PC befor printing the ones you want or deleting. If its just a low end machine then this option may not be available and what you receive is what it will print..."thats what a fax is for".

MX310 - faxes in memory. Cartridges have been replaced. Error of low ink remains. What is the key sequence to retrieve these faxes?

Press Fax then Menu. You should see Fax Settings across the top row. Use the left/right arrows to select Memory Reference and press OK. Again use the left/right arrows to select Print Document and press OK. Select the transaction (RX) number of the fax you want to print (received faxes start at 5001) and press OK. Then choose whether you want the first page or the entire fax (yes to first page only or no for the entire fax) and press OK. To print additional faxes repeat from the Select RX number. Print the Memory List to find out which fax is which (from the list that you see under Print Document.

Then you can delete these by selecting Delete Document instead of Print Document in the above directions. Then press OK followed by Yes or No for deleting the document.

Finally press Stop/Reset to leave the menu.

I hope this helps.

On my Canon MX310, the display says "Waiting for Report". Fax Memory is clear, but the In Use/Memory light stays on.

Try this step ... found it on Canon's website

Issue: ERROR LCD: WAITING FOR REPORT
Solution: Set [AUTO PRINT RX] to ON (MX300 / MX310)

AUTO PRINT RX When [AUTO PRINT RX] is set to [OFF], incoming received faxes will be temporarily stored to memory and transaction reports (TX, RX and Activity) remain in memory. The default setting is [ON], which means incoming received faxes and transaction reports will automatically print. The fax machine will not automatically print a received fax and will store it in memory in the following conditions.
  • Ink is low or has run out
  • The paper size and type is not set correctly
  • Paper has run out
  • The Output Tray is closed
To set AUTO PRINT to ON, please follow these steps.
  1. Press the <FAX> button to enter the Fax menu.

  2. Press the <Menu> button. [FAX SETTINGS] is displayed

  3. Press the left or right arrow button to select [RX SETTINGS] , then press <OK> two times.

  4. Press the left arrow to select [ON], then press <OK>.

Note: When AUTO PRINT RX is set ON, a sub-menu will appear to PRINT WHEN NO INK.

  5. At sub-menu PRINT WHEN NO INK, decide if you'd like the machine to continue to print incoming received faxes if ink is low.

CAUTION: When this option is set ON, the fax machine will not monitor the ink level of the ink cartridges. If ink is low or out, received faxes will print with streaks or blank. Furthermore, once the fax is printed, it will be deleted from memory.
    1. To print received faxes when ink is low or out, press the left or right arrow to select [ON] and then press <OK>.
    2. To store received faxes in memory when ink is low or out, press the left or right arrow to select [OFF] and then press <OK>.

  6. Press the <Stop/Reset> repeatedly to return to Fax standby mode.

Printing what is in memory

It probally wants ink to print the stuff in memory, if this has been corrected you can make it print from its memory or you can delete each file, it takes a little doing but this is what you need I think to do so you can free up the memory, to delete a item from memory, press menu, then scroll to a memory item, ok , scroll to delete, ok to delete, ok to delete, menu to get out quickly, standing on one leg :-)

You should be aware that this printer has a serious "ink low" behavior. When any ink cartridge is getting low (which still means a lot of ink left by the way), it changes the Fax reception model. Instead of printing your faxes as they arrive, it dumps them into memory. So, even though yellow (say) is low, it will not print your B&W fax!
It takes more than 5 steps to print the fax and delete it (menu, scroll to memory item, ok, scroll to print, OK document, scroll to print all pages, ok, menu to go up, scroll to delete, ok to delete, ok to delete, menu to get out).
Worse, after a couple of these, the memory is mixed up. So, when you want to send a Fax, it will say "memory full" even though the memory is empty. You then have to power cycle the printer (hold down on/off for 1 second, wait 10 seconds, power on, wait for it to get ready (another 10-20 seconds).
This means you either have to waste ink by throwing out cartridges before they are empty, or you have to deal with this mess.
