Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

Ice maker is leaking into the tray where the ice is dispensed causing the ice to become embedded into the tray

I have a GE side by side model #SSS25KFMC WW and my issue is that when the water is dispensed into the tray it is also leaking water into the holding tray so everytime it makes ice the next time it pours the water some of it is coming into the holding tray causing the ice to become frozen into the tray. Is there something that I should be looking at specifically to locate the problem????????

the flap that lets the ice dispense may not be closing as it is supposed to. I have had to replace my solenoid once before and am ordering parts for it again. You can go to GE site and get parts list and replace yourself or get a technician to do it for you.

I have the same problem, a little trickle of water goes into the ice tray then freezing all the ice cubes into one mass. I looked at the solenoid valve but it is sealed plastic and cannot be opened to clean out any debris. This occurs during ice making not when the ice maker arm is in the off position. Im not sure if I should be replacing the valve or if there is something wrong in the ice maker itself. I cant see any breaks in the water hose.

I have the same problem you reported. What was the final fix for your problem? Someone mentioned I need to change the Water Value Asm but wanted to know what you have done to fix this issue.

I have the same problem. When unpluging the ice maker the water then will shut off and the solenoid appears to be working and not leaking ?? There is a adjusting screw +/- at the motor drive will adjusting this screw make a difference to the water flow quanty to the fill tray//

The ice maker usually is an easily removable assembly, lift and pull or something like that. It may be the little water line has cracked, plastic don't like being cold.

Why does my ge pss26lg side by side despense water but no ice?

Just because you get water from the dispenser does not mean you should also get ice made in the ice maker. Fact is there are two side to the water control valve. One for the ice maker and the other for the water dispenser. Is there ice remaining inside the ice maker slots? If not then pour water into the tray until full and if after the water freezes it drops the ice into the ice bin this will indicate a defective=> WR57X10032 Water Inlet Valve If nothing happens and the ice maker tray are full of ice this will indicate a defective=> WR30X10093 Ice Maker Assembly The ice maker is cannot be rebuilt on this model. What may be happening is the water control valve for the ice maker may be allowing water to continue flowing into the ice maker tray even when off due to the water control valve being defective. If your refrigerator also has a water dispenser and the water is not continuing to leak is because the water control valve has to sides. One side is for the ice maker and the other side is for the water dispenser. I am here if you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

I have a MN - TFX24PRXB - BB GE Side by side refrigerator. The Ice maker does not make ice anymore. I have tested the water valve and it is working. If I turn the gears it will start the process to...

Check for freezer temp - if it is not 10 degrees or below the ice maker thermostat will not turn the ice maker cycle on by removing the frozen ice in tray and then refilling it for next dump cycle. And if freezer temp is high you may have leaking door gasket, dirty condenser coils, improperly operating self defroster which raises temps, low refrigerant.

The ice in the ice tray becomes a solid block and has to be manually broken apart to get the dispenser working again. Tried changing the temperature on the front panel to no effect.

Good day,
Water leaking from the water fill valve when it should be off can overfill the ice maker cavity causing that, or the fill tube from the back of the machine going into the back of the ice maker has become dislodged.

Machine could be going into it's defrost cycle for too long, warming up the area around the tray causing the cubes to partially melt.

Ice maker bad or the ice maker water valve mounted on the same bracket as the dispenser is bad. These frigs are prone to bad ice makers after a few years.

GE side by side; model # TFX25JRYD Serial #

So the dispenser is getting water. Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

If the valves clicks but water doesn't get to ice maker the fill tube can be stopped up with ice.The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
