I have a gateway desktop computer. Recently moved it to new location and when powering up the pc, the main power button is orange instead of green. And, it will not power up.
Please advise.
Before you actually replace the power supply, check some other things first:
1. Wall socket
2. Power strip/surge protector
3. Power cable
4. On the back of the computer, where the power cable plugs into, is the red switch set to 115? It should be 115.
5. Make sure that the power cable is not connected to a regular
extension cord. Power cable must plug directly into a surge protector
that is not daisy-chained to another power strip, surge protector, or
normal (household) extension cord. Surge protector must be directly
plugged into wall socket.
If none of the above solve the problem, open up the case and ensure
that all power connections are secure. Also check ALL other components'
connections. Any loose connections can cause problems for you.
If everything is secure and the problem persists, replace the power supply.
