Re: garmin nuvi 360

I had the same problem. Sometimes the voice would start to speak and then cut off after a few sounds. I was still under warranty so Garmin replaced it (I think with a rebuilt I am now having display problems with).

Before I contacted them I tried software updates and resets and changing voices--alas it had to go back to the factory.

How do make the gps announce the street name to

Neither the Nuvi 250W nor the Nuvi 205W have Text to Speech (which is the feature that allows the unit to speak the street names), so you cannot make yours speak street names. I'm sorry.

My garmin nuvi 255w no longer announces street names after updating

You may need to choose a different voice. From the main screen click on the Tools icon in the bottom corner. Go into Language then Voice. Then choose a voice that has a Name beside it such as American Jill or one that has the letters TTS.

The garmin 750 will not speak street names.

You don't have a TTS (TEXT To SPEECH) voice selected. Please see this link:

: My nuvi is supposed to speak street names when giving voice prompts but it doesn't. How can I fix this?
Answer: All of the Garmin automotive GPS units that speak street names are also loaded with basic voice prompts (i.e. 'Turn Right in 500 feet') as well as 'text-to-speech' voices that speak street names. If one of the basic types of voice prompts has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names.
In order to change this setting on the nüvi line of products, please follow these steps:
  1. In the Main Menu, tap on the Settings icon.
  2. Tap on "Locale"
  3. The second line on this screen has a picture of a mouth. To the right, the current voice for the GPS device is listed. Tap it to change the voice.
  4. Select a voice that is labeled with (TTS) at the end. These voices will speak street names.
  5. Select "OK". The voice has now been changed.
The device should now speak street names.
