Re: Space Bar Beeps Every Time

You didn't say what typewriter you have if it is an IBM Wheelwriter you have the spell check or the "clicker" on. code "S" to turn the clicker off or code "1" to turn the spell check off.

Hope this helps

Brother ml 500 memory typriter how do i move margin to right

Use your space bar to move carrier to desired location, hold down Alt key button on bottom left (next to space bar) and press the number 5 numeric key on top row. That should set your right margin.

My ibm wheelwriter beeps 1 time when i tab

Does anything else work? It is possible your right margin is set to close to the left margin. Try tabbing all the way to the right, set the right margin, hit the return and then hit the tab. If it beeps and goes all the way to the right, try setting some tab stops and retry the test.

I have a Brother ML300 typewriter. I do not know how to get out of the tabs which are already set up in the typewriter. Could you help me?

Move the carriage (print head) to the margin you would like to clear. When you hear the beep, hold down the [ALT] key and press [3]. Now use the backspace or the space bar to move the carriage to where you want the margin set. Now hold down [ALT] and press [4] to set the left or [5] to set the right margin.

How do you clear a tab someone preset. when I get to the far right of page and hit return it will on return to a tab. How do I clear all the preset margins or tabs.?? thanks

To clear margins, you have to hit the return button to find the left margin, then hit margin release and back space to move the margin left or spacebar to move to the right, then hit left margin button to set the new position. Right margin now. Hold spacebar down and find right margin position, hit margin rease and either spacebar to the right or backspace to the left to the new margin position then hit right margin button to set the new position. Tabs now. hit the tab key, when it goes to the first set tab, hit the tab clear key, then hit the tab key again, then tab clear again etc.

Most electronic typewriters work the same way to change margin settings. You use the space bar to move to the desired location then press the right margin key. You should hear a beep. If you need to set it farther to the right of the current position, then use the space bar to move the carrier to the current position, once it stops moving then press margin release then space to the new position then press right margin key.
