Turn on the Canon iP2000 if the device is not on. Allow it to power up for about 30 seconds.
Gently lift the cover of the unit with your hands. Lift only the top cover of the printer.
Wait until the print head moves to the center of the unit. It automatically moves to this position, allowing you access to all the cartridges. Do not try to move the print head manually, or remove a cartridge before this part stops and the light turns green.
Remove the section of orange film on the side of the new ink cartridge. Twist off the small plastic guard on the bottom of the ink cartridge.
Remove the old ink cartridge from the ink cartridge holder with your fingers. Press the tab on the cartridge forward and then pull it up and out of the holder. Slide the new cartridge into its place. Push down on the top of the cartridge to snap it into the unit. Close the cover when finished.
1) With the power on, open the front cover. The print head should move to the center. 2) Prepare the new cartridge for installation by removing the tape(s). Do not touch the area of the ink cartridge that was protected by the tapes. 3) Insert color cartridge into the right slot, then the black into the left slot. Push up and in until the cartridge clicks into place. 4) Close the front cover. Wait until the printer finishes preparing the new cartridge(s).

try cleaning the print head as follows, otherwise a new print head. OK, Canon will hate me for posting this. 1. Remove ink cartridges 2. Remove print head 3. go to sink or tub (stainless steel, not plastic type), pick up a roll of paper towel on the way. 4. Fold several layers of paper towel and place on flat surface. 5. Run hot water until HOT! 6. Turn hot water back to a dribble. 7. Run the dribbling hot water through print head, be careful not to wet the gold contacts. 8.When water running through print head is clear, place print head on paper towel. 9. Repeat number 7 and 8 until no colour shows on paper towel. 10. Gently DAB print head (DO NOT WIPE) inside and out with dry paper towel until dry. 11. I normally replace print head after drying, but you may wish to let it air dry overnight. 12. Replace print head in printer and install cartridges 13. Start printing. I do this to all 4 of my Canon printers every 6 months or so. If any colour fails to print after this process it means your print head probably needs replacing.
Confirm that the ink tanks are installed properly

fed properly, or ink may not be supplied to the print head.
Check that the printer is powered on and open the front cover.
