Hi,
And Yes, batteries were inserted correctly. And Yes, you have already attempted to adjust the screen contrast. And yes you know how to do that. But, I will tell you anyway.
Press the 2nd key and release it.
Press and hold the UpArrow key to increase the contrast (darken it.)

If that does not work, you may see this page on the TI Knowledge Base page to help you troubleshoot further.

Hope it helps.

This calculator stopped working. I thought may be I should try to change the cell. But after the replacement of cell still it's not working. Please advise. thanks

The battery is not the problem, check to make sure the contacts are clean, beyond that it is cheaper to replace the calculator rather than repair it.

My calculator keeps going off. The batteries are less than an year old. I would reset it. It works briefly and suddenly stops.

In my opinion your calculator may suffer from the depleted battery syndrome. Certainly the first thing one should do is to replace the batteries with a fresh set. If the behavior persits then there is a problem.
There is no set value as to how long a battery should last. It all depends on the frequency and durarion of use.

My 2nd button stopped working.

If your hold it down for a long time, it may start working. Also, try replacing batteries or just get the button replaced from where your bought it. If you still have your reciept, you may get the whole calculator replaced for free. This is what happened to me 3 days after I got my calculator. I hope that I helped. Bye.

Okay, so I've got a fx-7400G PLUS. My stupid friend put the contrast to light and turn it off. The calculator stop working. What can I do to make it work again? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Reset the calculator. On the back of the calculator there is a reset button (Above battery compartment and to the left. Use a thin pointed object to push it. The calculator will ask for confirmation to reset all memory back to default. Press [F1] to accept.
And next time avoid hanging out with stupid people, and don't lend them your calculator. Didn't you know that stupidity is contagious?

Hope that helps.

It will not turn on. I've replaced the batteries

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

When I replaced the batteries in my TI-84 plus the screen now reads "garbage collecting" and nothing works. Any suggestions?

Whenever my calculator has said that, it usually takes a long time, especially if you haven't garbage collected in a while. I don't see why it wouldn't stop eventually, but if it seems like it never will, take out all the batteries and the back up battery behind the door with the screw. Leave them out for like a whole day. When you replace them it should reset your calculator.
