Question about Mitsubishi WS-48613 48" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubishi WS-48613 No Video

I have a Mitsubishi WS-48613 approx 4 years old. About a year ago it started having a wavering picture when the unit was first powered on and then it would settle down and lock in.

A week ago I turned the unit on and had a black screen with thin rainbow colored lines scrolling up the screen. I removed the back to look for any obvious problems and when I plugged the TV back in I got the blinking green light problem. I replaced the caps on the DM board and the TV now powers up just fine. I still do not get any video on any input, but instead of the black screen I get a normal blue screen when no signal is found.

I removed the input terminal board from the tuner board to see if there were any obvious problems with capacitors bulging or discolored boards. All were fine.

Any ideas?

TV is approx. 10 years old. Picture has started

This is a model first made in 2001--when it does it go into the customer menu and select CONVERGENCE--what you are looking for is is red or blue skewed and will not adjust?

If this is the case I can tell you what is needed based on the model number you provided.

Same problem

It sounds like the classic "timer problem" that requires a "kit" (mostly capacitors) to repair it. To have someone do it (such as your service person) for you can be expensive and time consuming. Sets that are 5 or more years old usually have other problems too which, simply put, is a complete cleaning of all mirrors, fans, and filters.

Mitsubishi ws-48613 no power

It seems problem of weak capacitors in power supply and deflection board.
If you have little experience of TV repair and good soldering skills, then check above said boards for weak capacitors.
You also need to have service manual of WS48613 which can be obtained from Manual Zone.
Service manual has schematics and technical information of TV to help in repair.

Sounds like possible solder connections on the convergence ICs. If so, you will see the red, green, and blue not lining up on ever input and even the mits menu. If you can bump it to correct, its just a solder connection, but if its out all the time then the ICs need replaced. This is a difficult repair only recommended for skilled technicians (40 solder connections + possible re-alignment needed)
