You could also try holding doen on off button for 5 seconds this should reset the printer do this whilst the new ink cartridge in and see if this solves your problem if not then follow darklord1 sollution as this can be the only other problem you are having make sure there is no dust or ink stopping the contacts from contacting check also that it is fitted correct as it might not be seated in the slot properly if your old cratridge is accepted than the chances are the new one is faulty so take it back and get refund and exchange if poss if you know the old one works then you know the new one is faulty let us know how you get on also remember to try reseting as this an cure your problem

Hi,

Try cleaning the contacts like DARKLORD1 said. I would also try applying a bit of pressure when reinstalling the cartridge. Are you able to print despite the no ink cartridge error message?

Make sure that it is installed correctly. Also, if its not an new original Epson, it will not register. The manufacturers like to sell their new ones.

If you are using EPSON UltraChrome type ink cartridges, shake the ink cartridge gently before installing it for best results.

Hey , try cleaning the contacts on the cartridhe and in the ink well, use a soft cotten cloth and some alcohol or menthylated spirit..

If the cartridge you broght is a compatable or generic cartridge, and not the original, IT WILL NOT BE RECGONISED BY YOUR PRINTER... ACTUALLY ALL PRINTER MADE AFTER 2006 unless if its hacked..

Reinsert your old cartridge and see if it reads it, if it does, EIGHTER YOUR NEW CARTRIDGE IN NOT ORIGINAL OR ITS DEFECTIVE..

just cause its a new cartridge doesnt mean its AN ORIGINAL cartridge or its good,, some resellers try to palm off generic as new, try your old cartridge and see if it recgonises it if it does it means that your "NEW" cartridge is generic(FAKE) or it isnt good .. Just give it a try and tell me what happens

    AND TO RESET PRINTER

    1.) remove the power cabe,

2.) hold down the power button and put in the power cable,

3.) WHILE STILL HOLDING THE POWER PUTTON

    press the paper feed button

    4.) press paper feed again

    5.)release power button..

personallyi believe that the cartridge you brought is a generic or is defective (I'll bet on generic) get it changed

It sounds as though you have a break in the carriage ribbon cable. A new carriage would hopefully cure it but its just possible the logic board has failed and is not sending any signal to the magenta ink tank. Its certainly repairable but you would need to know the costs and the labour charge to see if its worthwhile.

"wrong cartridge"- Printer is giving us a "wrong

Hi Sherri

I am having the same problem with my MP780 mine started doing the same thingafter deciding to use Calidad inks the large black ink leaked into the yellowink (stick to canon inks).

What I have done so far with no success -
Replaced the ink cartridges with new ones supplied by Calidad, still the sameproblem.
Removed and cleaned the print heads manually and to my surprize after soakingin warm water and multiple cleanings for over 1hr black ink is still coming outof the yellow ink head.
I still get the same message after all I have tried...

One thing I did manage to do is prime the yellow ink and got it flowing throughthe head again but it's still mixed with black... I wonder if you may have runout of magenta and dried the head...

Try priming the magenta ink by removing the head (don't touch or wet the metalcontacts at the rear, the ink heads are on the bottom) place on a clean lintfree cloth (or I just used damp tissues then dry tissues) you should get onelong black strip and two cyan, two magenta and two yellow strips on the tissue,if you do not then try priming by replacing the magenta cartridge and gentlypumping the cartridge up and down repeat until you get the ink flowing.

Replace the head and cartridges, press ok, turn the printer off then reset.

Let me know if it works or if you come up with another solution that works as Iam still trying to figure out how to fix mine.

Good luck

maybe the cartridge is wrong, release it and clean the electrical contacts, put them again one by one, if notting happen, try this
Solution As the printer operates, it moves ink from the ink cartridges into a printhead reservoir. The printer does not deliver a message when an ink cartridge goes empty, because it still has ink in the reservoir. The printer continues printing until the ink level in the reservoir falls to a first trigger point - then a message appears advising the printer owner to Replace Cartridges Soon . At this point, other cartridges that are empty but have not reached the trigger point are also mentioned in the message, to save trips to the retailer. After the first trigger point, the printer can continue printing until ink levels in the reservoir reach a second trigger point. At the second trigger point there is only enough ink left to perform vital servicing tasks, and a new message appears, saying Ink Cartridges Empty . The options offered depend on the usable inks remaining. If no options are offered, the cartridges indicated must be replaced before printing can continue. The Ink Cartridges Empty options are described in the table below: Ink colors out Option Print mode possible All Cancel None Black

AND

Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow (any or all) Black only Continue with other colors Cyan/Magenta/Yellow mode (composite black)

Text and photo quality will differ from those printed when all colors are available Light Cyan or Light Magenta (either or both) Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow (any or all)

(Black still available) Print with black ink only Grayscale

Wont print with all new ink cartridges

If the error message is only "magenta/cyan low", it doesn't cause any error. The low message stays after replacing ink cartridges if they're replaced too early (before they're indicated as actually empty), it doesn't cause the printer to not work.
However, some other problem might be faulty, or there might be another error message. Try emptying printer queue and print from Ink Management -> Menu/set (twice) to check wether the problem is with communication from pc or if the printer actually is unable to print.

Hi,
If you turned the machine off and replaced the cartridge, you can get this error.

Could you try the following procedure below please to clear the error, thanks.
  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Open the top cover to access the print cartridges.
  3. Remove the new cartridge that is causing the message.
  4. Reinsert the cartridge and close the cover. The following message will appear on the front panel: "Press 1 for new cartridge or press 2 for a used cartridge."
  5. Press the 1 on the numeric keypad of the HP product.
If the message, press 1 for new cartridge or press 2 for a used cartridge, "does not appear after removing and reinstalling the new cartridge, and the low ink warning message still displays,

follow the steps below:
  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Open the top cover to access the ink cartridges.
  3. After the cartridges stop moving, unplug the power cord.
  4. Remove both cartridges and close the top cover.
  5. Plug the power back in. The unit will reinitialize and a message will appear to insert the cartridges.
  6. Open the top cover and reinsert the ink cartridges. Close the top cover. The message,
  7. Press 1 for new cartridge or press 2 for a used cartridge," should appear.
Hope this helps
Regards.

HP Officejet d145 print head problem

Did you replace the PRINTHEAD, or did you replace the INK CARTRIDGE? They are not the same on the D145.

Good chance that you may have replaced the ink cartridge, not the magenta PRINTHEAD which sits under the ink cartridge.

PS - in my experience, non-HP ink cartridges clog up HP printers with separate printhead mechanisms... any possibility here?

Good luck!

I am in the same situation. When 'Check Ink' comes up, the yellow cartridge blinks.  If I take it out and put it back again, the printer will work.  Then after a while on idle mode, the problem will show up again.  Pretty annoying.
