you most likely have a broken drive gear. I am not sure if this brand makes replacement parts, many small shredders do not have parts that are replaceable. You might try searching for the manufacturer and call them.
Hi,
That is a fairly common problem with shredders...
However most do not have replacement parts available and those that do are often more costly to buy and replace then the machine is worth..
Cross-cut shredders require monthly oiling of the cutting cylinders to maintain proper operation. Failure to oil the blades regularly could result in excessive noise during operation.
Oiling Your Shredder's Cutting Blades:
To keep your shredder in top condition, the cutting blades need to be oiled every so often (for frequency, please refer to your owner's manual). We recommend using Powershred® Lubricant or a vegetable-based oil (such as corn or canola) in a non-aerosol container with an extension nozzle.
Caution: Never use flammable synthetic oil, petroleum-based, or aerosol lubricants to oil the cutting blades. Some agents may combust, causing serious injury. NEVER USE WD40.
1. Depress and hold the reverse button down. 2. Put the tip of the oil bottle in the paper entry and make one or two sweeps the length of the entry while squeezing the oil bottle. 3. Move the power switch to Auto (I) position, or depress the manual forward button (depending on model of shredder) and allow the blades to run at least three seconds. 4. Move the power switch to Reverse (R) position and allow it to run for at least three seconds. 5. Repeat steps three and four above at least three times.
Yes you do need to oil the blades, but it is important to get the right oil. Most stores that sell shredders, like Staples Office Supply, also sell shredder oil. J.
Have you "oiled" the machine.... put some shredder oil on a piece of paper and shred it....do this a few times to get oil into the cutting blades and see if that helps.
Press the reverse switch if the reverse switch does not work it is a case of removing the power then getting a small hook such as the ones used for needlework and picking out the jam
If it still wont run then it is a complete strip down job.
Depending on the cost of the shredder it is cheaper to replace the small home ones than it is to repair them.
This a cross cut shredder right? Its job wears out these blades, sooner if not lubricated during its life. Replacing the blade assy. could get costly.
-Carl, please let me know if this helps.
usually these plastic pieces break from the machine jamming you really should call Fellowes customer service at 1-800-945-4545 and speak with them. They may be able to resolve your problem with a little more information on your unit.
