The brand is PAB security model # pbd-4dvr-2120
I haven't changed anything in the DVR.
I did create a dynamic DNS host and installed the cliente update program. I also configured the DNNS page of the router with the dyndns.org info.
What I'm having trouble with is configuring the router with the port info.

Hi Desi

I would like to give you step by step parameters to fix the problem. However there is no enough information. Model of DVR is important so we can know what kind of configuration it requires. Also your steps, What you have done so far? Have pinged the IP address of the DVR? usually DVRs doesnt require a special DNS configuration most of them works like IP cameras. If you provide the model info I can I can try to provide guidance accordingly.

Thanks

Have checked for you to get User/Instruction Manual to resolve the issue. However pubsecurity has no published user manual online. you can request online manual from them by emailing info@pabsecurity.com as they have no other contact on there website. Most of the DVR i have fixed contain a special setting area. Here is the link for a commonly used Tivo Brand DVR setup http://tivosupport2.instancy.com/TivoCol...

as you can see DVR has own settings. DVR can work without router as well. DVR can be connected directly to modem. Router will give access. Regarding the port still it should be defined by manufacturer's instruction. Once you locate the manual please inform. after that we can check the configuration of DVR.

How to find dvr ip address

Hi,
what do you want the DVRs local IP address on your LAN or your internets public IP address?

to see the local IP that the DVR is on, check the menu's in the DVR as if configured properly you should have it set up as a static IP on your LAN...

if you can not find it there, you should be able to log into your router and view connected devices... some routers are better than others, but you will probably only be able to see devices that are connected and assigned an IP address from your routers DHCP table..

if you want your public internet IP address then go to http://cmyip.com but in order to view your DVR from a different location on the internet you will need to set up port forwarding on your router - the DVR manual should show what ports need to be forwarded...

you may also want to consider using a dynamic DNS service if you do not have a static IP from your internet provider... most DVRs that I have encountered provide a dynamic DNS service..

Thanks,

How do I configure to remotely monitor a DVRC264-16ME with Apple based computers?

Remote access setup is the same a with a PC. Each router is different but the apple versus PC issue is not. Once remote access is setup, you will access the DVR interface using the IP address you have chosen. If you need help setting remote access up, call us. We offer the service for minimal cost. If you want to do it yourself which can take hours and will possibly make you pull your hair out, then research your specific router model number and make sure you port forward the proper ports that your DVR or NVR asks for and insert them into your router firewall, pointing them to your DVR or NVR's local IP address.

I want 2 configure a DVR from remote place and not from the intranet. kindly help me out in solving the issue

To configure the DVR from a remote location you can do it one of two ways:
Create a vpn connection through your router if it supports it or an external units to the remote location. This will make the remote location appear to be local to the dvr.

You can also setup the dvr's internal IP and port on your router through port forwarding. This way certain network access or traffic will be passed directly to the dvr from outside your local network.

Try to configure the DIR-625 wireless router. Connect your computer to one of the LAN port to one of the router. Then access the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1) configure as dynamic IP then clone the MAC address. Make sure that you modem is connected to Internet port section of the router. Check the Internet connection after the configuration leave the other behind check the connection of the main router before installing the other one.

I'm not sure if you are still looking for the answer, but I think the problem may be that you need to enter the PUBLIC IP address of the modem at the remote end instead of the PRIVATE (ie. 192.168.1.x) IP that was actually assigned to the DVR. It works best if you assign a static IP to the DVR on the remote end and enter that IP into the router's DMZ. You might also want to get a free account at dyndns.net and setup a FQDN for your business router/modem. That way you can connect to it using something like "mybusiness.homeip.net" instead of an IP address, and if the IP changes it will still find it. You will also have to configure your modem at the business to automatically update the dyndns server when the IP changes.

I nd to configure dynamic host for my dvr camera through router

You need to assign static IP on your dvr camera, then open the port(port forwarding) for your camera using the router's setup page.

DVR camera system help

First, check what ports the DVR system uses, in GeoVision for example is:
80, 3550, 4550, 5550, 6550
So...
You DVR must be with Manual IP
And then, open the router management page and configure NAT settings, so that when someone in the outside network "calls" you ip+port, the router knows to which machine the "call" is...
Also... use some kind of dynamic dns service like DynDns or NO-IP so that people use an regular URL and not a IP address.

LINKSYS ROUTER

You need to know the ip address of your dvr. It might have a factory set ip address or a dynamic ip address from the router. You can then use this ip address to access your dvr.

If your dvr has a static ip, that static ip should be in the same range as the router's ip address so that the router can communicate with the dvr.

Step 1 Log into the web-based configuration by typing in the IP address of the router (default:192.168.0.1) in your web browser. The username is admin (all lowercase) and the password is blank (nothing). Note: The address 192.168.0.1 is NOT on the Internet. The web-based configuration is built-in to the router. Step 2 Click the Home tab and click the WAN button. Dynamic IP Address is the default value, however, if Dynamic IP Address is not selected as the WAN type, select Dynamic IP Address by clicking on the radio button. Click Clone Mac Address. Click on Apply and then Continue to save the changes. Step 3 Power cycle the cable modem and router: Turn the cable modem off (first) Turn the router off Leave them off for 2 minutes** Turn the cable modem on (first) Wait until you get a solid cable light on the cable modem Turn the router on Wait 30 seconds ** If you have a Motorola (Surf Board) modem, leave off for at least 5 minutes. Step 4 Follow step 1 and log back into the web configuration. Click the Status tab and click the Device Info button. If you do not have a public IP address under the WAN heading, click on DHCP Renew and then click Continue. It may take a few minutes to obtain an IP address. Static Cable Connection The instructions below are for users who were given a static IP address from their ISP (Cox Business, TDS DSL, PacBell Business, Interbaun, InReach, Inficad, FlashCom, DCAnet, and Cavalier). Step 1 Log into the web based configuration by typing in the IP address of the router (default:192.168.0.1) in your web browser. The username is admin (all lowercase) and the password is blank (nothing). Step 2 Click the Home tab and click the WAN button. Select the Static IP Address radio button and enter in your static settings obtained from the ISP in the fields provided. If you do not know your settings, you must contact your ISP. Step 3 Click on Apply and then click Continue to save the changes. Step 4 Click the Status tab and click the Device Info button. Your IP Address information will be displayed under the WAN heading.
