Re: Veloodyne DD12

Sounds like the accelerometer has gone bad.
It may be the amp, hard to say for sure

Contact Velodyne or the place you purchased the unit from.

I am experiencing loud popping and crackling sound at high volume after speaker is warmed up. Speaker cones move smoothly when pushed gently by hand. Sound almost seems to be coming from inside.

Sounds like it could either be the crossover circuit or a distorted speaker cone. The cone is the easy one to check. You need to check that it moves freely at all points. It sounds like you have partly done this, but you just need to make certain you went all the way around the cone checking for free movement.
However I don't think it is the cone, because of the slow way it acts up. That could be the crossover circuit. If you have a look at it and see either an IC or transistor looking parts, then I would have thought it would be one of them acting up - presumably getting hot!
If you can have the speaker outputting sound, with access to the crossover, you could spray these parts (one at a time if there is more that one) with Servisol Freezer spray. You simply wait till the fault develop then spray the suspect part. If it returns to normal you have located the faulty part. If nothing happens, wait till the coolant wears off then try the next suspect.
Places like Maplin stock the Freezer spray.

I just bought a receiver, Turntable, and bookshelf speakers. Everything got hooked up but I have serious distortion coming from the speakers. Did I hook it up wrong? What could cause this and how should I...

Distortion using which source(s)? Keep in mind a turntable is basically a microphone for room-born vibrations and loud sounds so it may create feedback. And a TT without an onboard Phono preamp will require connect to one in your electronics. It will be labeled explicitly "PHONO" and only a TT should use it.

Fill in all the make and model details and how you have it connected.

Hi I am a solo female vocalist and I have a pair of jbl two way eon 10s speakers which are about 10 years old now. But have looked after theem and they have served me well. But a few weeks ago i heard all...

It sounds like the Power Amplifier shot a big jolt of DC Voltage to the Speakers and opened the Woofers. If this was the case the speakers would read open and not the 8 ohms they should.
If this happened than your horns will be the only thing working and this would give you a tin bucket voice. Have your Engineer check your Amplifier................. Larry

I had a cordless mic hiiked to my system and there seemed to be an overload of feed back evertime i got close to the sub. the feedback then got so loud that the sub stopped working

You need to reduce the level of the microphone so that is not so loud. Feedback can be controlled by equalizer adjustments and speaker positioning. Did the sub get blown out?

15 inch velodyne subwoofer making a loud popping sound

If you have changed the signal source, then these may not be the problem at all, it may be that you have the sub output set to low on your processor.

This may be one of these problems.

It could be the "auto on" circuit.
If you change the switch on the back of the unit to always on does it still do this? if not then it is the auto on circuit that is the problem.

The driver mounted servo unit is starting to fail.

A cap in the amplifier input section may be going bad.

You nwill need to contact Velodyne for repair of the unit.
