Question about Sony VAIO Digital Studio PCV-RX580 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Sony PCV-RX580 I was using the recovering CDs to start everything over for this pcv-rx580 sony vaio, got through the C and D partition, formating but when the recovering CD was restoring files to C drive, error message shows at 38% completed (Critical Error: Ignore, End, Retry, Abort). I took the hard disk out, put it back and try it 2 more times, same errors on 38% completed. Any ideas?

Will give it another try this evening.

Else going to try Spin Rite before replacing another disk.

Spin Rite must have resolved the read/write issue.

I also burned another copy of the recovery cds, and used it and have no problem. I will run the Application recovery tonight to get the whole box ready for a little 11 years boy, he will loved it and use it for his school stuff. Thanks again for the suggestion and it does help me resolved the issue.

Anyone can provide me with a copy of the recovery discs, please? I must have thrown away mine at some point because I cannot find them and I need them right now. Badly. I'll pay for postage and discs, of course.

    Thanks in advance,

Its A file Read Erroror write error, You cany try

Burn another copy of the rescue cd and see if the copy works,,
Use an original windows cd insted of the rescue cd,,
if those dont work,
You will need to replace your harddrive,
and this might render (streess the word might) your recovery cd useless in which case you will need to get another windows cd..

let me know what happens or if you need more specific details

The repair man has delited everything from my computer and now I have lost everything. My recovery cd said it coult not find the recovery file. How can restore my files/

it is possible to recover corrupt or deleted files, but that requires specialized software. If your "repair man" formatted and or deleted the partitions on your hard drive... well then you are out of luck and have to start your reinstall from scratch.
However most recovery files are stored in a separate partition on your hard drive. If you are lucky, that partition is still there and you simply have to tell your recovery cd where that partition is.

Sony vaio desktop recovery desk does not work when I put the drive it give the message that partition not known

You will have to get the "full recovery" install discs. The recover disc only restores the system if the hard drive is te original factory installed and has not been formatted.

How the heck do you get the side panel off Sony

From the Sony manual:

Removing the Side Cover
You must remove the side cover to access the system board, add-in cards,
power supply, battery, memory, and internal drives.
1 From the rear of the unit, pull the metal tab shown in the next
diagram. (Upper right corner)
2 Pull the top of the cover away from the unit about two inches, then
gently lift out the cover.

I need to replace the DVD disk drive on my Sony VAIO PCV-RX580. I was able to remove the left side case cover but cannot figure out how to remove the other panels. Can you give me some assistance? Thanks -...

I also have a sony vaio but in replacing my drive I only had to remove the one side and two screws. Then push the drive from the front. the drive is "clipped" in there." It will come loose and just remove and replace. Good Luck

How do we enlarge copy on incoming e-mail?

By enlarge copy do you mean make the text appear bigger? If so, holding "CTRL" and scrolling the mouse ball upwards will make the text appear bigger.
