Albatron GeForce FX5200LP dead

Albatron GeForce FX5200LP has died. Dispays yellow screen divided into many vertical slices. Temporary insertion of another card showed a valid screen (but not a very good one as drivers probably weren't installed), so I'm fairly certain it's the card. These cards seem to be museum pieces, at least in UKland. Can I substitute any other card? Can I upgrade? Would a Fx5500 256MB card of the same form work? Thank you. Rev. John.

Re: Albatron GeForce FX5200LP dead

Yes, you can upgrade it yourself, if you know how to install the hardware itself and to install drivers from its CD. When buying be sure that it's "AGP 8X" a type of slot that is the same/compatible with the slot of GeForce FX5200LP... Have a nice day!!!

Sounds to me like your computer system is in short circuit protection mode.

The PC is off, then when turned on it jolts on and quickly off again.

See my published guide to solve this problem, they are listed below:

My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

It problem may be due to moist dust which is causing a short in the circuit.
The problem may be solved by opening it up and cleaning out the dust, letting it air a bit to dry.

You may want to consider warranty support!

Thumbs up!

Dell computer monitor wont come on when I turn

When you turn on most dell monitors they come on with a yellow light, then turn green when the monitor and video source synch. If your light is not turning from yellow to green, your monitor is either dead or not getting a signal from the video source it's plugged into. Verify in your BIOS settings that you have selected to output video through an installed card and not from the motherboard source. If the BIOS settings are correct, your monitor has died. If the light is turning green after you turn the computer on, press the menu button on the monitor and adjust the brightness/contrast until you have a picture. If you don't see anything when the menu button is pressed, then again your monitor is likely dead.

I have an Optiplex 210L and want to add on a video card. I came across an EVGA GeForce 9400gt 1GB PCI card and decided "why not!" after disabling the onboard video and setting the bios to auto (or look for...

Remove the GeForce card.
Enable the onboard video as "primary".
Start Windows.
Within Device Manager, remove the driver for the GeForce adapter.
Download the latest software software for the GeForce video-card,
and install it.
Insert the GeForce card, and leave the onboard video as "Primary".
Start Windows.
It should treat the GeForce card as an "additional" video-adapter,
as if you had two monitors, side-by-side.
If it works in this configuration, shutdown.
Set the GeForce card to "primary" and restart.
If it works in this configuration, shutdown.
Set the onboard video to "disabled".

Vertical yellow line on sony vgn-ar130g screen

Hey patrickocon,

If this line appears whenever your computer is in operation (from start-up to shut-down), you may be encountering what is occasionally referred to as a "line fault." Unlike dead pixels which can generally be repaired, these types of problems may require you to replace the entire LCD screen. These lines may appear for a variety of reasons, but can often be attributed to standard usage, damaged/loose internal connections or impact damage to the screen itself.

I would first suggest contacting the manufacturer if your laptop is still covered by the original factory warranty. In many cases, manufacturers are able to replace defective LCD screens or provide you with the name, phone number and location of a third-party service center in your area. If you would prefer to not deal directly with Sony or a third-party facility, remember that you can always seek additional assistance through your local Best Buy™ store.

Hope this helps you out.

My new Acer flat-screen monitor dispays stretched hortzontal image. I can figure out how to set the correct resolution.

Right-click on your computer screen...then click on Properties in the pop-up menu. You should see the "Display Properties" window. Now click on the Settings tab and you'll be able to try a different resolution setting.
