Question about Lite On SOHW-1633S DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner

Lite On SOHW-1633S DVD±RW not burning

For the second time now my 1633s just refuses burning any cds or dvds. The first time about 6 months ago I updated the firmware from the liteon homepage. I tried to do so this time but it is impossible to download any files from there. Any ideas or has anyone the drivers, it seems that I just keep 'loosing' the dirvers. Thanks

LiteON SOHW-1633S does not recognize cd nor burns cd

Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or

you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question exclamation or a red X
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
hope this helps

I had burned the data in double layer DVD in Nero, after successfully completing the burning, when i try to open it is showing the space is Zero, please suggest me in retreiving the data which was burnt.

have a good look at the disk you burnt make sure the data has been burnt to the disk
sometimes nero will say that the burn process completed successfully but when you check the disk itself there is nothing on it
righ click on the disk select properties you will be able to see how much free space you have
you would have been asked if you wanted to save the data in a certain folder after the burn
hope this helps

I have a lite-on dvdrw sohw-1633s that windows xp will not detect the driver. it shows cdrom.sys driver how do i fix this? I have burned dvd's befor and don't know how or why the driver changed.

Windows xp does not have a native driver for DVD writers. It always detects them as cdrom.sys. You need to use either the writing software supplied with the drive or Nero or equivalent

Lite On 16332 DVD/RW burner

You can download the autoplay repair wizard from Microsoft if thats the main problem, but it may be on its way out, you can also try a lens cleaner cd, but i dont think it will make a difference. The life span of recorders is getting less and less, perhaps because of inferior parts being fitted to keep the prices down.
