Sharp AY-A249J air conditioner not cooling

Hi. My Sharp AY-A249J stops cooling regularly. When I switch the unit off at the wall a few times it generally comes on again. Today it took my wife all day to get it to work again.

We have had a repairer out to fix it, but we couldn't replicate the problem, which seems to be intermitant.

I have seen previous posts and can confirm that it is not an E1 error message resetting issue.

Your help would be appreciated.

Maybe get an electrician to make sure the voltage is not dropping to low at start up.

When we turn the unit off inside the outside unit continues to run and we have to turn it off at the main power board Can anyone help Please. Model Sharp AY-A249J

A lot of A/C units have protective circuitry that enforces minimum cycle time, once turned on the circuit keeps it on for the minimum time (typically 2-5 minutes) and once turned off it will not allow it to turn on again for a minimum time period. This is to prevent compressor vapor lock. Could that explain the behavior you're observing?

Wall unit not picking up remote signal.model ah-a249j air con unit.thankyou

James. if you haven't replaced the batteries in the hand held remote, that's the first place to start troubleshooting the problem. Make sure the new batteries are facing the proper direction, when you install them. Also, check the photo electric cell receiver in the AC unit. It may be dirty and can not clearly receive the signal. or you may be to far away from the unit.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Unit cools for a few minutes then stops cooling. Even fan stops blowing air but the unit remains 'on'

unit may be short of gas. will run for a few mins before low pressure switch turns the compressor off. you will need to get an engineer to check gas pressure

Hello I have Sharp Air con/Heating AY-XPM9FR with a floor/wall unit and a higher wall unit that are supposed to work in conjunction with each other. I have never had any problems until we had a power cut...

Hi Helen, i want to know the age of your Sharp Air con/Heating system. If its more than 1 year and you using it regular basic , then i suggest you change the battery or the remote control first then try . If the same thing happens then follow the instruction as per below image.
If there is also ok & look good then ,please call a service man and check the air cooling/ heating gas. Because you mentioned "I have the manual and have tried to reset the timers using the remote control but still no good. " Another chance you can take before call the service person, just reset the full system by remote control not only the timer. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

Fan in our Sharp "Comfort Touch thru-wall a/c stopped

Unless the Unit can be cleaned ( you claim it cools?) but not enough. The age of the Unit is not in you Question, the amount of time you got for 100 bucks is pretty good being you purchased a USED UNIT. With the type of use you claim Running 24/7 and about 5 months of cooling - I'd say you never cleaned the Unit from day one - that might cost you about 100 bucks if the unit can be done in the yard by a serviceman. Chemicals can hurt the Unit if not done properly ( and yourself). It sounds to me like you use it for a Business - if so you can purchase one and write it off .
