Paul, L1 is a problem with the sliding glass, it either got stuck or obstructed when doing a copy or you have a clutch issue

Printer ar168D Error L1-00

The L1-00\r\n error indicates the scanner didn't return to it's home position or is locked and can't leave the home position. There is a lock switch (designed to lock scanner into place for safe transport) located to the left of the copier and just under the scanner. It's a plastic dial that needs to be turned to the "unlock" position. Once done, your problem should be fixed.

L1 SHOWING ON SHARP COPYER SF756

An L1 generally means the lamp carage is not moving. Remove the glass and see if that lamp assembly moves back and forth freely or if it is hitting something in it's path.
