After calling an authorized technician and the thermador support line, neither of which solved my problem, i was told a HARD RESET of the PROBE is all that is required. This problem originally occurred on my Thermador double oven after a power outage and rendered my oven unusable b/c the probe light would not go off -- even though i had never used the probe!

To hard reset the PROBE, turn off the oven at the breaker box, plug in the probe for 1 minute and remove it, then turn the power back on at breaker box, and probe light goes off!! Also, since i didn't have the original probe and to buy a new one would be $80, I borrowed a friend's Thermador probe (different model but it still worked). It cost me $85 for the service visit, 2 weeks of nonoperational oven, and about 5 hours time -- hence the reason i am making this post. It is a golden trick!!

What did NOT work -- turning off power to house again for 15 minutes to reset the OVEN, and disconnecting the probe wires from control panel so probe isn't recognized.

Another option. My double oven is a SEC302BS. This light came on while cooking the Christmas turkey. Thank goodness for the lower oven - we were all stumped. The next day I figured out that by running a Probe cycle that it will shut the probe light off after completion. So, press BAKE, set it at 300, press START. Now it will ask for a PROBE temp., set it at 200 and press START. Let the oven heat up and wait for it to finish. BTW, the PROBE will not get to the set temp of 200. Mine ran for about 10 min. and then display END, BEEPED and was done. PROBE light was gone! I searched all over and could not find a simple solution and stumbled into this one. I hope it works for you. Good luck! Also, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY ANOTHER CONTROL BOARD!! .....at least not for this issue.

Sounds like the control board is not communicating correctly with the rest of the unit, consult a professional.

How do you use the meat probe

Insert the probe into the center of the meat, in an area where it's likely to cook the slowest. Anything above 63 degrees celcius is considered safe for consumption.

Cant get the fan oven to heat up is this a element problem or a program problem.

Hi.

If the fan assisted cooking programs are the only one not working and the oven is otherwise heating and cooking, then problems can be:

Fan motor.
Wiring harness to fan.
The relay that activates the fan. That is usually part of control module.

If instead the fan oven is not heating at all, then check if problem is with broiling, baking, or with both. If the problem affects both broiling or baking replace the temperature probe. before replacement the probe can be tested using an Ohm meter. The probe will read about 1080 Ohms at room if good.

If problem is only with one of baking/broiling functions, then test elements or valve/ignitors, depending if oven is gas or electric.

Regards.

The thermostat light does not stay on during cooking.the cooker does not get hot enough to cook properly.the light goes on and off during cooking.I think it should be constantly on.The cooker is a hotpoint...

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya.
This is a very common issue with these appliances
Normally the temperature sensing probe is the part that fails and when it does the oven will heat up only some and the probe will indicate that it is at the right temperature thus turning off the light
when in fact the oven is not fully heated up
So i would first inspect the temperature sensing probe/ thermostate and if it looks really old or greasy i would highly suggest replacing it ok normally they are around 45 dollars or so ok?
Keep me posted on how this is going so i can give you any help that you may need
Best regards MIke

I have a whirlpool accubake duo, super capacity 465 and when I try to bake something the oven wont stay on...how do I get the oven to stay on

What do you mean that it wont stay on? Does it turn off and on during cooking? Does it just go off and wont come back on? The oven thermostat regulates the heat in the oven and the oven element and the oven indicator light will turn off and on during cooking. If it stayed on constantly on full oven element power everything would burn.

We want to turn the oven off, it keeps saying chk probe

The stove is in probe mode for cooking.
This unit does not have a probe.
I suggest unplugging the stove for a few minutes (or turn off the breakers) to reset the controller.
If this does not cure it, you will need a service man.

No the Probe is usually a device with a lead that you stick into the thing your cooking to check temperature. The Sensor, is usually built in somewhere.
