Dvd recorder was set to progressive mode and now will not show a picture or set up menu.

You can try this - with the unit on, but no discs inserted, press and hold the [STOP] button on the front panel (not the remote) for 10 seconds, then release. This should revert your unit's video output back to normal interlace and restore the picture/setup menu etc. This works for Zenith/Goldstar/LG DVD decks. Give it a try; it might work for you. Hopefully it will.

My memorex combo dvd & vhs player is not working right. can you help me? the vhs player works fine, but the dvd player display's a split screen on the tv with a large yellow box with the word PSCAN....

PSCAN is a short form for Progressive Scan - a line scanning format used for High Definition TV. Standard TVs use Interlaced scanning. On your DVD/VHS player, the VHS is an analogue signal recorded in interlaced mode so is fine for a standard TV. The DVD is a digital signal and cazn be processed for progressive scan output in order to produce a better picture on a High definition TV (or a TV capable of handling progressive scan). If you cannot to your TV via the HD outputs then you should be able to set the DVD player to output interlaced instead of progressive scan.

Lost everything visual, just audio.

Just enter the appropriate Menu-Setting (without a picture you´ve to do this "blind") - Press "Setup" - 1x key down (=video menu) - 1x key right (switch to sub menus) - 2x key down(=video format) - press select - key up (=interlaced) and press select again - finished!

How do I reset this ilo dvdr05

To reset to user defaults for mu1 with no video: 1. turn on dvd with no disc 2. press "setup" 3. press "down arrow" 3 times 4. press "enter" 5. press "down arrow" 9 times 6. press "enter" More than likely you changed from interlaced scan to progressive scan. If your tv does not sopport progressive scan there will be no video. The default setting is interlaced scan.
