Panasonic Plasma problem

We have a Panasonic TH-50PX70A, it has started to turn itself off after a few moments of running. I also notice that there is a pinkish ghosting and darker picture colour seperating the top half from the bottom half?

We have checked all the cabling, turned it on manually again but after a few moments the television turns itself off again. The television was bought 3.5mths ago.

Would appreciate your expertise on this one please.

my 50" plasma screen certainly turns green and disarrary images after 1 year. If turn off for 20 mins and turn back on, I can watch for about 10-15 mins, it happens again. The way it happens, i think there must be some short of heat censor that set off or something. Any suggestion?

My panasonic th-50px780a is doing the same thing. As soon as i turn it on i hear sound but then turns it self off again. There is also a noise which sounds like a mouse being electrocuted coming out of the set. It is only about 5months old.

Same problem - just watching a movie 15mins ago and without any warning or any previous problems the unit just switched itself onto standby. After turning it back on we'd get sound for a second or two. No picture but perhaps a lighter black screen and then back onto standby!!!

Please tell me there is a way to fix this or that Panasonic is aware of the issue and is willing to repair the fault.... Any advice???

tv does not turn on unless i unplug it then it comes on for abot 3 seconds and then turns off and red light blinks by power button

  • minhphuong Dec 29, 2008

Our TH50PX77U turned black by itself suddenly. The power light stays ON however. We tried to unplug the power cord many times but no change.

Our warranty have just expired on Thanksgiving day.

Will call Panasonic service tomorrow. Hope it is not serious and we can fix it by ourselves.

I have the same problem on my Panasonic PT-50DL54 DLP!

I just received my television back from repairs and hopefully, with fingers crossed, the problem is solved. The Panasonic repairman replaced (5) faulty power capacitors. I do not know exactly what that meant, however, he stated that is what was causing the set to shut off, triggering the various blink codes. Anyway, good luck... I think we all are experiencing the same problems due to a faulty design flaw. Let's hope this works...

Change input device to something you know really works. Look for loose contacts of RC jacks, sockets. Look for any jammed buttons on remote. If problem persists, this may need attention by a qualified technician.

The most likely issue is that the Power Supply has burnt out, you were able to let it cool at get it to work for a while, but perhaps part of the board has melted enough to cause a short. Repairs will cost approx. $300-500.

I have a panasonic plasma tv. Model #

I don't know but I'm having a similar problem. I have a plasma
TH-50PZ77U. It will run for a while and then shuts off. Also, the volume goes up and up and then it shuts off at times. Like I have a ghost here. I had both of my sat. recievers replaced. It seems to get worse over time with shut down. I called panasonic and they had no info and denied this was an issue but I beg to differ from my research here online. It's only a few years and we paid lots of $$$. They gave me a # for service 1 hour away!

Light green stripe down the middle ...

This fault is most likely caused by the plasma panel itself, which would be prohibitively to replace. I suggest contacting Panasonic service and tell them about your problem. I have known Panasonic to be very good in the past, often still helping out even when the item is out of warranty.
