1 Answer

Usb issues I tried to upload my images from my A540 and i get a bubble that comes up on my desktop this device can perform faster this usb device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-speed usb 2.0 port. when clicked on brings up a window that says the unknown usb device is a hi-speed usb device and will function at reduced speed when plugged into a non-hi-speed port It tells me that there are no HI-SPEED USB host controllers installed on this computer so it gives me a recommendation the unknown usb will function at reduced speed. you must add a hi-speed usb host contoller to this computer to obtain maximum performance   need to get this to work, what do i do?

Dear customer,

Though you get these msg's which you have mentioned, you can ignore them, and try manualy installing the driver software for the camera, somehow.

Uploading images to computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I do not know how to upload my pictures

This camera can connect to your computer with a USB cable.
Try connecting it to your computer, if a new window does not pop up, you should see the camera listed as an external drive or something. Click it on your desktop and you should see the photos, copy and paste them to a folder on your computer.

Downloading images

Possibly a short in the camera, cable, or the port itself. Recommend trying another port. If that doesn't help, then please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

I keep getting this error message. This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a hi-speed USB 2.0 port. For a list of available ports, click here.

it means you have the USB low speed connection. If you have plug in the device in front of the CPU it prompt it sometimes, try it at the back if it still wouldn't work out. Install the USB driver to 2.0 version or higher. thats it

Could a photo printer corrupt my camera?

Do you have a memeory card reader? They work a lot faster than cable transfer. Get one if you don't, for about $10 or so, or borrow one to test your card. Then see if your memory card (the "disk") displays your pictures onto the computer through the card reader. If it does, your friend might have physically damaged the USB cable connector on the camera or the card socket inside the battery compartment (or, of course, you might have done so yourself somehow). As long as you have the card reader you'll still be able to transfer images. If the pictures don't show up on the card reader, it's more likely the card itself was damaged, though you say you tried another card. If you've already downloaded the pictures, try reformatting the card (which will erase everything) and then give it another shot.
