Question about JVC GR-D370 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
I WANT TO TRANSFER MY VIDEO FROM MY TAPE IN THE CAMERA TO THE COMPUTER BUT MY COMPUTER JUST SAYS THERE IS NO DEVICE. I HAVE THE USB CORD THAT CAME WITH THE CAMERA DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PROGRAM OR SOMETHING I WANT TO BE ABLE TO BURN THEM TO A DISK
Use firewire connection(DV Port) and must use a good quality cable. Sub standard cable lead you to trouble. There's no Vista issue with this camcorder model, only at the software side, JVC website provide a list for those update is needed including upgrade link. I can not post the link this time since that was long time and i need to search for that again. Have search it on JVC site, i will give you an update as well. Good Luck, keep in touch

Drivers are usually not needed, Just remove card and plug into card reader, way easier than trying to hunt down USB drivers. USB Does NOT transfer video, bandwidth too low, You need firewire, ie. IEEE-1394 cable. You can get a PC card that has firewire socket as well as USB 2.0 on one card. Very good for older laptops.

Having the drivers installed in your system kinda helps too!

You need to use a firewall connection 1934 cable that can purchased at most stores, Radio Shack, Target, Best Buy and other stores.

You can use an IEEE-1394 firewire cable if your PC or Laptop has outlet for it otherwise you need to buy a firewire card, but you have to check the outlet provided to your videocam - 6/6 or 6/4 pins.
The other way is to use a TV tuner (PCI or USB) that is capable of video capture.

Be sure your camera is on when you have connected it to your PC. Then you have to put it in Play mode and rewind the tape if it's a USB cable you connect with. Start Windows Movie Maker and test.
