Question about JVC KD-S5050 CD Player

1 Answer

No face I purchased a used vehicle a few months ago, with a bad motor, so it sat around for a while before i cleaned it out.  I found a cd receiver under the seat.  It is a jvc KD-S5050,  It does not have a face on it.  My question is can I purchase a face separate for it, and if so where and how much will it cost me.  I went back to the old gentle man I got the car from and he told me he knew nothing about it.  Am I just wasting my time or would it be easier and cheaper to purchase another one.

Re: no face

You could try to find a faceplate for sale on ebay; I just took a quick look and found one for not much money at all. You could probably also find a used one with all its parts intact and swap it out, or find a broken one which has a functional face to use with your car stereo.

Best of luck.

Display not working

I have the same problem. There's a little ribbon cable behind the contacts for the faceplate. It gets folded as the face plate motors in and out and eventually breaks like mine did. I'm fixing it tonight and then I will disable the motorization. Followed by NEVER BUYING A PIONEER AGAIN. I reccomend you do the same.

CDA-9813 No sound, will not eject CD

There is a very tiny dot located either on the actual face of the alpine head unit or on the front plate of the radio once the face has been removed. Once you find this dot(if on the actual face) you need to make sure unit has power turned on and witha tiny needle or pick you may push this reset buton in for about 2 seconds. The face will automaticaly fold down and the disk will eject itself. Once this is done do not place the same disk back into the unit. Hope this solves your problem

Kenwood MP925 cant get to work

The ribbon cable to the face plate needs replaced. It's an easy fix and any shop that does car audio repairs will likely have them in stock (mine does). Every shop has their own rates but my shop charges around $65-75 to fix that problem. Call around and ask. The bad part is: J84-0153-05 FLEX-RIBBON CABLE FROM FACE TO MAIN PCB
