Question about Toshiba TP50G60 50" Rear Projection Television

Convergence : need confirmation

From what I've read, it seems that my stk 392-110 ic need to be replaced. It looks like a fairly complex procedure so before trying it, I would like a confirmation that this is the problem:

I can adjust the red gun up, down, left and right in the menu. However, the blue can only move up and down.

Thanks for the help!

Do not have full 64 point convergence control on the green crt. Most all ofrt of the picture is in convergence but the top first two lines are bowed and the middle bottom line is arced in the center....

No,the tv convergence board the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors are dead.Tv convergence board must be replace the 2 STK convergence ICS and also must test all of the resistors and replaces all those dead resistors too.

How do I fix a converence problem?

First try using Autofocus. If there is a convergence problem this won't fix the problem.

Try using the convergence alignment procedure from service manual.

Here the procedure that works on most Hitachi rear projection.

Here the grid with convergence problem

If the procedure does not work, then the two STK392-110 on convergence board must be replaced.

Before replacing the ICs you can test the pico fuses located on convergence boards. Simply read ohms to test if they have continuity.

Better also testing components on convergence board like resistors located at the base of STKs.

After removing the old STK, the new ones must be re-soldered using cooling paste.

Price for single IC can is about $8/$20. I think
STK392-110 on this model can be better replaced with STK392-150. I suggest contacting the seller on this.

The service manual is available here.

My projection tv looks like 3d. The projectors seem to be off balance. Why?

The convergence correction circuit is not working properly.
This is a convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400

Mitsubishi WT-46805

Good Day, Bosjerry;

I believe the IC's are on the left of the TV, looking from back, the TV uses STK 392-040 (two) convergence IC's. They will be mounted on a large heat sink (large silver/metal) looking device.

Good Luck, big IRISH>

Yet another convergence issue - but need your help!

most times the ICs will be sufficient, but on certain models one or two of the convergence resistors will be burned and often dont show any outward appearance. They are located right next to the ICs about 10 of them all identical and you need to unsolder one side of the resistor and lift the one side out of circuit then check it for resisitance with an ohms meter if it doesnt register it will need to be replaced.

The image looks like doble

you need new Convergence ICs which is a fairly simple repair. Post your model number and I will post the STK numbers of the ICs you need as well as a link where you can get replacements that come with free installation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself.

Convergence problem???

Check the resistors by the STK ic's, should be 2.2 ohms. Under the heat sink, also check the 1.8 Ohm 1W, fusible resistors found around the area as well.
Good Luck.

Hitachi 65xwx20b convergence

Your message says you "replaced stk392-150", did you replace both of the stk`s or just one of them??? One is for RGB vertical the other is for RGB horizontal, you should always replace both stk`s as a set, Hitachi recommends you use a "replacement kit"
part number X480306", this kit includes both stk`s with a new & supposedly improved set of stk`s as well as all resistors that are required for proper set-up, they strongly recommend you change all of the parts in their kit. The only other thing besides IC`s & resistors that could cause your problem is:
1) bad dcu output (you need a scope to check this)
2) you`ve lost either the +15 volt line or the -15 volt line to the IC`s, "Fxxx" chemical fuse open in power supply.
