Question about Lexmark X6170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Feeder crunching up paper

Hi there--

My Lexmark 6170 is crunching up my originals as it spits them out at the bottom. The orginal makes it about 50%-75% through, and then it gets squeezed and sometimes ripped on the way out.

What to do?

We have. Nothing there at all. Look totally clear.

  • RIBerdahl Jan 14, 2008

Well, I just went under there, saw all the rollers, checked them all, checked the long back rod on the left with the silver clip attached to it, broke that black rod with the clip on it, took it out completely, and now it works great. Oh well.

    Thank you!

I have the same printer. Have you cheked the paper path for the document feeder to make sure there is nothing in the way. Like a label, a torn piece of paper, etc. It really sounds like there is something in the paper path.

I just checked my printer. You can lift on the leftside top there are 2 rollers there. Then you can lift on the 2nd top that puts your paper on the bottom. There are a set of rollers 3 of them to be exact. A switch that lets the printer know the paper has exited and another set of exit rollers 3 more. Thats it. If a roller is missing. You will have a misfeed problem or they might need to be cleaned. The switch may be broken. I didn't even know about the 2nd top till I pulled on it and it poped loose on my own printer trying to troubleshoot your problem. Let me know if I can be of more help. It has to be in that section.

Lexmark 5495. No paper jam. Gears just spin. Won't grab paper. Paper properly in loading position.

Here are some tips on how to use the feeder: - Use paper that is in good condition. - Fan the paper before loading into the feeder to avoid sticking together. - Make sure the paper don't buckle when loading into the feeder. - Avoid overloading.

I am trying to fax on the 6170 do the sheets face up or down?

If you are sending fax using the scanner bed, your original document should be placed face down. However, if you are sending faxes using the automatic document feeder, original document should face up.

How do i load paper?

A4, Letter, or legal-size paper can be loaded. The minimum size that can be loaded into the ADF is 3x5 in. When you load small paper sizes, place your original in the center of the tray and adjust the paper guides to the edges of the paper. When making copies, sending faxes or scanning, load your original document into the feeder, face down.

Hi I get this 250.07 paper jam check mp feeder on Lexmark t644

Please try this

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
