Drivers to make an XT machine recognize external floppy drive by Compaq

I am trying to get an IBM 5150 to recognize an external Compaq 3.25 floppy drive. Objective: To get data off of 5-1/2 floppies on 3.25 floppies so that today's computers can read the data.

I have a Compaq external floppy drive connected to the IBM 5150, but it is not recognized. I need drivers for the IBM 5150 to recognize the Compaq external 3.25 drive.

Can anyone help?

I'm not defeated, but could not find what I needed on that link. Have obtained new 'facts' to my case, and even with an external 3.25 floppy connected and 'recognized' by the IBM 5150, I don't think the data will be able to be read, because it's a possibility these 5.25 diskettes were created on a System 36.

But thanks for your help, and I'll keep digging!

Unfortunately, the Compaq external floppy drive I was given does not have any tags or inscriptions on it indicating its model or serial number.

I may be able to acquire another floppy drive (IBM) which the model number is known. However, with more investigation, the data was apparently created on a System 36 and it's not yet clear whether or not the IBM 5150 will be able to read the 5.5 floppies. I'll post again if I have more questions. Thanks!

Try to use the windows 8 generic floppy drive driver. Legacy hardware is difficult to make work. You might want to see if you can download and install multiple drivers for similar floppy drives and see if one of them works.

I have lost my floppy drive driver UF0002, I like to have that back so I can use my external floppy drive

You should not have to have a floppy disk driver as the machine (IBM format) recognizes the floppy drive upon boot up. Go into your BIOS setup and be sure that the floppy drive is turned on. It is always recognized as Drive A: or Drive B: Those two designations is reserved for floppy drives in the Basic Input Output System, reguardless if your machine came with an attached FloppyDrive.

I just bought a used Designer 1 with Customizing Software. The customizing program recognizes the a:Floppy external drive to receive designs. When I try opening the Disk Manager so I can download them,...

Don't insert the floppy disk in the drive until you are ready to actually do the writing to disk. If it still won't recognize that there is a design disk there, try re-formatting using disk manager - you will lose whatever designs are already on the disk, so make sure to save them to your hard drive using Windows Explorer first.
You might just need updated drivers for your floppy drive. Try an internet search by searching for Husqvarna Customizing drivers, or something like that.

Ibm server xseries 326

It is not detecting the HDD because the windows install does not have the necessary drivers. On the windwos install you must press F6 or F2 I don't remember which one but it prompts you for them to load external drivers fro SCSI or other type of drives, you must download the right drivers for the type of HDD the server has probably fromt eh IBM support website, put them in a floppy and load them from the floppy into the windows install so it recognizes the drives..

My hard disk cant be recognize when i install xp cd to my Acer M1641 with a vista OS. my cable is sata not IDE. how can i convert my vista to XP

You will need to install the SATA drivers for XP. First, download the proper drivers for your SATA controller and put them on a floppy (will properly have to use an external floppy drive). At the beginning of the XP installation you will need to press F6 and install your drivers.
Be aware that there are only a few external floppy devices that XP will recognize. (Sony, IBM are two of them).
