Won't turn on. Constant blinking green light!

Hello! We just bought this TV from a friend. When we first bought it, as soon as we plug it in, the green indicator light in the front would constantly blink. The instruction booklet said it would do this after "shutting down" but it went on for over 6 hours! After waiting it finally stopped and we were able to use the TV for 2 weeks.

It was working fine but after two weeks it did it again. We didn't unplug it or anything but it now wont turn on and the constant blinking green light is back. I pressed the reset button but now its over 3 hours and no change.

Any idea why its doing this and what I can do before having to hire a tech who may rip me off?

Slinteriors (or anyone who can help)...

Is replacing the 1000uf capacitors an easy process? Is it simple for someone who has no TV repair experience and if not would it be pricey to get replaced by an expert?

  • ohmagolly Jan 14, 2008

Well personally I know I can't do it, but I've been asking around my friends for someone who can. I would love some instructions. Also, any tips or recommendations on people who can do it just in case we can't find someone?

Sorry to bother you again but I've tried calling Clinton Electronics Repair but they have not been picking up calls all day. Is there anyone else that you would recommend?

I have a friend who works with computers who will be doing the TV (Mitsubishi Medallion WS-65315) repair for me. We have all the required tools minus the capacitors. I went to Radio Shack as per your recommendation but they had several 1000uF capacitors. Which one should I be using? Here are the types listed on their site:

There are 4 1000uf capacitors on the DM board that prevent your set from completeing the boot sequence. replace these with the Radio Shack eqivalents and your problem should be resolved. The 4 capacitors are located right next to each other in a group. Hope this helps.

Mitsubishi has had some trouble with Jamicon capacitors. I have literally serviced hundreds of their sets with bad capacitors. If you can solder you can do the repair your self. I can provide Instructions if you would like and feel confident that you can solder well enough. Let me know.

You will have to pull your dm module to check the ratings of the four capacitors. They are 1000uf but some are 16V others are 35V and still others are 50V you will have to check which ones your are. They are stamped on the capacitors.

My mitsubishi tv W55613 won't turn on. green light keeps blinking even after resetting

Hit the front of the tv near the blinking light... give it a good rap or two. See if this helps. Helped mine. I had the same problem and the tech who came out to the house told me that it would work and it did! I could hardly believe it but it worked.

id be calling the friend asking for a refund...what you have going on is pretty common but did you see it work prior to buying it or just take their word for it? you may have a bad flyback or transformer but it shouldnt be bad so soon after you happened to buy the tv and no it would not have gone bad from moving the tv

My iPod shuffle will not charge

If iPod shuffle won’t turn on or respond
â If the status light blinks orange when you press a button, the iPod shuffle buttons are
disabled. Press and hold Play/Pause (’) for about three seconds, until the status light
blinks green.
â Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer. Your iPod shuffle
battery may need to be recharged.
â Turn iPod shuffle off, wait five seconds, and then turn it on again.
â You may need to restore iPod shuffle software. See “Updating and Restoring
iPod shuffle Software” on page 26.

The constant blinking green light means that the TV is not booting up. This is a common problem on this set.You need to remove the shield from the DM board (standing upright on the left where the DTV RF connector is)and inside you will see the four leaky capacitors (1000 MFD 16 VOLT)replace them, plug the TV in and wait 70 seconds for the blinking light to stop, then turn on the TV.The hard part will be removing the board from the TV(lots of screws and connectors, takes time)
