Re: power supply

Yes you can buy a power supply that is over 300w and it will still work. No reason to get a new case. Just make sur you get the right ATX power supply. They come in 20 and 24 pin with power for the cpu. Any good retail computer store technician should be able to help you. Here is the part number for replaceing it with an HP Power supply 5188-0129. Hope this helps

Re: power supply

Yes, It is a GOOD IDEA to get a bigger wattage PSU in case that you want to add extras to your HP. No you do not need a new case unless it is beat up, or you just do not like it anymore....

Power supply gt 5404 -iwant to replace 300w psu with more watts, will any atx psu work?

ATX is a sizer variation between Chaises/Cases and Mother boards.
When upgrading a power supply its quite simple. The only hard part is making sure your buying a power supply with enough wattage to supply enough power to your components. With that said Some power supplies are Modular. Which means that you dont have all that mess and you can remove the cables that you dont need, and others are built in. So i advise you to just make sure you have enough wattage to supply enough power to your components. All/most PSU's fit unless you get some custom/fancy rigged one.

I replaced th original Ati radeon x300 video card on my hp media center m7250n for a new galaxy gt 240 for better video and also changed the power supply to a new 550 watts. Since I lost audio. The system...

The x300 is video only. There is a possibility you may have knocked your sound card out of its pci slot while working inside the case.

Check that the sound card is firmly seated in the slot.

If you do not have a sound card and are using onboard sound, reinstall the sound drivers.

Enjoy your new gt 240.

I want to get a new mother board and cpu for this model acer aspire e380 just wanted to know if i get those parts will it fit into this system

As long as the motherboard is an ATX or mATX form-factor, it should fit without a problem. Just remember that it has a 300W power supply, so you need to watch the power consumption of all of the devices you have in there. You don't want to exceed the pwoer supply limits. (Actually, you should try to keep it below 250W for all devices connected to a 300W power supply to play it safe).

Dont know how to find the watt usage of the motherboard ?

There are many power supply calculators out there. As long as you know what the components are on your computer, you should be able to find max power usage by inputting all the components. Google search terms:
power supply calculator.

Dell Optiplex GX280 Video Card Install Problem

You hit that one right on the dot.  ATI website showed the specs for that graphics card you installed as needing a 300 Watt power supply.  Good news though... I researched and I believe I found your 300W power supply.  There are 4 different Optiplex gx280 designs with 4 completely different power supplies.  Since you bought the low-profile video card, I believe you have the slim computer case and this power supply should work for you...

Good Luck

What power supply should I buy for a gt4022

The computer has a 300W powersupply from factory, I would buy a 400W powersuplly for it, depending what components it has inside, if the video card is upgraded to a new one 300W won't be enought, and in that case even 500W might be a good choise. if its with the original parts from the factory it should do fine with either 300W or 400W. ATX here are powersupplies: note that if the link isn't clickable then select it completely, copy and then paste it to your addressline to open the page.

HP Media Center PC m7250n will not power up

hold the start button in and check the back of the case to see if the power supply fan turns while the power button is depressed. If it turns while the button is pushed, but then stops when you let off the button, then the power supply is probably bad and needs replacing.
