SHU 9922 UC Top wash arm came off

The top washer arm came off of the back of the unit. How does it go back on? Is there a clip or something or what? I try to place it back on, but it just falls down.

Re: SHU 9922 UC Top wash arm came off

We've just had the same problem, after a little frustration trying to get it to fix on to the back wall of the washer, we realised that it fixes onto the underside of the actual tray. When you pull the tray out, the arm comes with it, and then when you push it in, it engages with the holes.

Easy when you know how!!

Hello Deepak,

You can definitely fix this yourself, but I'm not entirely sure from your description which part is "dropping off". It may be a simple fix where something needs to be clipped back into place or you may need to replace something. Please can you take a look at the images below and identify which part you are having trouble with.

Below is the back of the upper spray arm which clips on to the upper rack. It has a grey plastic cover behind which is a large white plastic washer / gasket. The washer simply slots in to the back of the spray arm and the grey cover clips in over the top.

Your description suggests the grey plastic cover and/or the white washer are dropping off. If the grey plastic cover is missing, it may have fallen into the bottom of the washer under the lower rack, in which case you should be able to find it and clip it back on. If it's missing or wont clip back on, you will need to replace the upper spray arm as the cover and washer are not available separately.

This is the water delivery tube which clips to the back wall of the washing compartment. There is a metal clip which secures the tube to the wall. The open hole and one of the spigots slot in to the two holes in the back of the upper spray arm above. The spigot used depends on which height setting the upper rack is on.

Basically, everything simply clips together. If nothing is broken, you should be able to fix this at no cost by simply clipping the offending part back into place.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance or help locating replacement parts, please let me know what needs to be replaced. Nearly all Bosch parts are available and in stock direct from Bosch.

You wil have to excuse my lack of knowledge. I am not getting an error code so I don't know what the problem is. The washer has 3 spinners. The top and bottom spinner are spraying water fine, the middle...

Take out the top rack and inspect the pipe nipple that the rack slides onto. Make sure that there isn't any debris stuck in it. Next pull the wash arm in question off (it just pulls off) check for debris (toothpicks are the biggest culprits and food particles (sometimes glass so be careful). You should find something in there. The wash pipe goes from the bottom to the top of the unit, if the bottom one works and the top one works then your clog HAS to be in the middle wash arm. The water clearly makes from point A to point C so C has to have an obstruction or the wash arm is sticking and not spinning freely. Try to spin it my have but really inspect it for debris. Good Luck.

The top arm snaps into place. Simply unscrew the retaining clip from the ceiling of the washer. Inside of there, you will find a small white plastic clip. Make sure the two prongs are pointed down and poking out through the hole in the bottom of the larger grey clip that you just unscrewed. Then press the prongs on the white clip into the hole on the arm and snap it back together. Then you can screw the assembly back into the ceiling of the washer.

If this problem persists, you will likely need to replace the white plastic clip. (which is where I am at right now with my washer).

Could the arm be mounted upside down and rotating the wrong way? Just an idea... Some of these can fit either way and the retainer will fit either side of the arm.

Bosch SHU 8805 upper arm is getting no water.

replace the upper water arm conduit and wash arm hub as they leak under years of pressure and the o-rings leak water and then it can't hold pressure and supply the upper arm with full pressure water, also replace the center arm conduit if it has one as this will wear out too

Top arm on my Maytag MDB5600AWW keeps falling off

Sounds like the retainer clip for top arm is defective. Replace the following parts:

1: 99002676 Washer Arm
2: 99002753 Top Washer Arm Retainer

To replace unclip top manifold from rear top clip on back wall then pull down on top retainer clip and remove arm, replace in reverse of these instructions.

Part can be ordered off net or thru any appliance parts house.

Frigidaire dishwasher - upper spray arm trouble?

I do not have a problem w/the upper arm not spinning. Rather, the upper arm keeps falling off of my frigidair dishwasher. The owner's manual suggests the upper arm is a single unit. However, the upper arm component is comprised of 3 parts. The parts are an arm that distributes the water, the base that screws to the top of the dishwasher, and a small plastic type washer that rides in the base and literally holds the arm to the base. The plastic washer has two small clips that tend to wear or contrast with age; thus letting the arm fall off on a very frequent basis.

Potentially, the small plastic washer piece may have broken in the base assembly and is not allowing the arm to turn. As water flows into the arm from a hole in the base; suggesting the plastic washer may be jammed with a foreign item seems less likely. The base unit screws to the top of the dishwasher and can be removed by hand (the base is a little tight). There are no mechanical pieces to my third (upper) arm; movement of the arm is accomplished with water flow.

You may wish to remove the arm assembly and check for a broken washer or a foreign item in the assembly. As a side note, I found that I can unscrew the base and remove the assembly without removing the top dish tray. The fit is a little tight but the tedium of pulling and reinstalling the top tray can be eliminated by unscrewing the assembly w/the tray slid forward for assembly access.

Hope all you have is a foreign item that is locking the washer.

Not washing

first check to make sure the water supply line to the unit, isn't kinked and the valve is completly open. then i'd try using a solvent that removes calcium deposets[clr or something similar] in with a few cycles. then i'd start looking for a motor.

This is usually because of food items inside the arms.
Undo the top arm (clips or large screw) - and back-wash the arm through the spray holes..

This usually solves the problem.

Sometimes the clips wear that hold the arms on - if this is the case - buy a replacement spray arm.

There may be something plugging up the arm that sprays over the dishes. And of course, I'm sure you know not to place items like bowls, pots, etc that will block the flow of water from the bottom sprays.

Although the bottom jets do most of the working cleaning the top items, the spray from above is vital. Take the stem pipe leadin from the top to the bottom off and separate the spray arms carefully. If you can, look throgh each end to make sure no deposits are in there.

Another way is to blow compressed air from the center stem down in the water supply unit. If food particles are there you'll see them.
