Can't adjust blue lines on grid for convergance

Thanks to all you. I have a Samsung HC-P4752W. I replaced my STK392-010 with STK392-020, I replaced both chips with no problems and used thermaltake paste. I replaced them because I have a blue shadow, and in trying to adjust the convergance grid with my remote, I couldn't move the blue lines left/right. Well, now that the STKs are changed, nothing is different. I still have the blue shadow, and can't adjust the blue lines left or right, I can adjust them up/down though. What else is wrong with this dang thing? The red and green are fine and can move all ways on the grid.
HELP ! ! ! ! !

Re: Can't adjust blue lines on grid for convergance

I would take a look at the entire circuit board the STK chips are sitting on... I have the same problem with a sony KP-57wv700 and it turned out to be the high voltage controller for the crts got fried... part # BA9759F and it can not be replaced as the entire circuitry around it got toasted also... I just ordered entire circuit board. mine was the D board in this case...

BTW, did you check or replace the pico fuses? 3 orange ones on each STK circuitry. Check their resistance with an ohm gage should show continuity. My case they were 3.15 A each...

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Samsung hcp-4752w

With power on, press Mute-1-8-3. That will get you into convergence mode. 1 sets factory default convergence. Avoid pressing 2 - it resets everything. 3 restores the last saved settings, 4 switches among fine adjust, line adjust and grid move. 7,8,9 - select R,G,B. The three keys below those turn RBG on/off.

Self-focus to save the settings. S-Mode to exit.

It can be a REAL headache, but take your time, and you'll get it done.

As an after thought....if you have a need to manually adjust the convergence, you probably have something wrong - unless you've just replaced parts and are doing the initial convergence.

My mom has a samsung hc-p4752w and my stepfather heard a pop with a burning smell and after that his tv has a double vision look. so i saw on here how to fix the grid which worked fine except the red...

Convergence IC's are bad......

You can mess around with ordering them, and replacing them, and hunting for the bad resistors on the board and replacing those too, or you can order a new board PN BP94-01266a for around $160, and plug it in. You'll have to readjust the convergence manually afterward. Just did it on my set - works beautifully!
