if the ignition key does not unlock the steering column there is a mechanical problem inside the ignition lock cylinder or column itself. the steering column will have to be disassembled

I have a Honda CRV (2004) and the steering wheel is locked. The key will not turn in the ignition. Do you know how to unlock?

Try this.... Sit in the car and grab the wheel, pull or push the steering wheel with your left hand and arm, HARD! while turning the ignition.... Sometimes when you park with the wheels turned the weight of the car bears down on the wheels and has a tendency to lock the column!

How do I take steering wheel column apart to get to ignition lock system? Currently, I am unable to turn on the car as the steering wheel is in a locked position and no action occurs when I insert the key...

You say no action, Does that mean the vehicle does not turn over? The vehicle turning over and the steering column unlocking are two separate systems. If you turn the ignition and nothing happens and have an alarm installed, remove the in-line fuse from the alarm power line. If it is the Interlock, you will need either a T-5 or T-10 driver with a recessed hole to remove the column cover screws. These are Torx Head Screws to make vehicle theft harder. I also recommend you get a haynes repair manual for your vehicle to guide you through the repair.

I can't pull out the key it seem that the car locked the key and i cant start the car

Make sure the gear selector is fully in park, alot of times if the cars wheel was turned when the vehicle is parked the steering wheel is locked in the turn position and it puts pressure on the ignition switch. Try turning the steering wheel slightly left/right and see if it kicks back. If it does you have tension on the ignition and need to hold it until the key is turned to the on position and it unlocks the ignition. If you can try to let the wheel come to a rest before turning off the ignition as opposed to holding the wheel turned and shutting off the ignition, this will avoid a locked wheel/column

Cant unlock steering wheel to start car

I would chalk that up to old age and wear and tear. I expect that when you take the steering column apart you will find a lot of play in the linkage between the ignition and the lock. These will probably be dealer only items to replace unless you can find them in a scrap yard. It will probably be easiest just to remove the lock mechanism and leave it that way. Just make sure that everything else works before you put the column back together. You may also be able to shim out the play with some time and patience if you can't find parts. Copper and brass work the best. Hope this helps.

Steering column locked

When you get the key into the ignition, Try turning the wheel to one side or the other as you turn the key. Some vehicle's steering columns will "lock" if the wheel is turned to tightly when the ignition gets turned off. Hope that helps.

Hello, my steering wheel is locked! I tried wiggling the wheel and turning the key and that didnt solve the problem. Let me mention the ignition would not turn over in the first place, even when my car...

All you need to do is turn your steering wheel to the left all the way till it stops then put your key in while still holding the steering wheel to the left, turn the key to the on position this should release your steering wheel!

I need to unlock the colume

Colume?  Did you mean "steering column"? as in steering wheel?  Usually turning the key in the ignition as you turn the steering wheel will unlock the steering column.  This may take some considerable force depending on the way the car is resting (on a hill, against a curb, with sideways pressure on the wheels).      Being more specific your problem will always yield a more helpful solution.

Remove steering wheel and steering column in 1992 acura legend

first , as you try to turn on the ignition , move the steering back and forth to release the pressure on the lock tab on the steering shaft
next you will have to install a safety pin to stop the air bag going off
there are 4 bots that hold the lock assembly onto the shaft but you will need a grinder to get the bolts out as they have no heads
it is easier to remove the steering column complete from the car to replace the switch
it is not really a diy job unless you have a workshop manual and some mechanical experience
