Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
Hey bought my ps3 2 months ago and have been using it with a panasonic plasma telly not hd. Initial setup was fine and all was well for a couple of weeks. One day i turned on the console after changing nothing and the menu and all games were in B&W only. Thinking it may be the crappy cable that came with the console i bought a better scart lead for it and it worked fine for a while. Tonight its gone back to B&W again out of the blue. Ive tried holding the button down etc and doesn't work.
The only thing i can think of that changes on its own is the xmb. Could this affect the settings? How could it be ok one day and not the next?
If you can't fix it. I got mine fixed at www.gamesos.com. It was pretty cheap and I got it fixed pretty fast. Or you can try to get sony to warranty it but... good luck!

Had the same problem. Was quoted $800 to fix. Searched the internet for 6 months and found this thread on avforums.com
Read through all the posts. Very simple fix, but you have to have some mechanical inclinations or you can cause more problems than you started with. I was up to 5 of the black lines, but decided to attempt the soldering these guys did and fixed it all for the cost of a soldering iron! Even if you decide not to attempt it, it gives you somewhere to start to tell a technician.
