Question about Dryers

New dryer (Maytag Bravos MED6400TB0) will not heat but the dryer I just replaced works great

I just replaced a Frigidaire Dryer with a new Maytag dryer. The Frigidaire works great but the Maytag does not heat. I am hoping there is something that I can check out myself without involving the warranty people. I bought a new cord and since I have a 3-prong plug, that is what I used. I have tried resetting the circuit breaker a few times and that doesnt seem to make a difference. I did shorten the vent hose.

What can i check to see why my maytag bravos dryer isnt drying?

[Always disconnect the dryer from any power source before checking.] Dryer heating circuits have several parts in the series circuit that must all work (kind of like a string of Christmas tree lights) so you'll want to check each one in that series. These likely include the motor switch, timer switch, temperature selector switch, temperature controls/thermostats (usually three of these) and all connecting wiring plus the heating element. Of course, one should always make certain the dryer is receiving 220 volts power supply from the wall outlet before starting to troubleshoot the dryer. Most dryers operate with 110 volts, only using the 220 volts for the heater circuit. A dryer getting only 110 volts could run, but not heat. This doesn't happen often, but is always worth checking.

Matag dryer not heating

Here is a link to maytag dryer repairs . The most common problem is the thermal fuse. My question is. Does the heating element start to light. If not...... and you have changed the ignitor and thermal fuse. Then check the flame sensor to see if there is continuity threw it. Power to the gas coils and ignitor runs threw the flame sensor. CLICK HERE to see a flame sensor on a GE dryer. They are the same on most units but Maytag will be on the opposite side of burner chamber.

Thermal limiter maytag bravos dryer

a thermal limiter is a safety switch designed to keep a dryer from overheating, by either shutting off the heating element or the dryer itself if activated. They don't normally need replacing (unless you know your dryer overheated and activated it). If you have no heat in your dryer, chances are you have a bad heating element--the most common dryer problem

My Maytag Bravos dryer is brand new. It is the quiet series 300, but is the loudest dryer I have ever owned. It makes like a loud vibrating, humming noise. Is this normal? I am now drying my second load of...

People, the first words the poster said were that the dryer was "brand new". All of your suggestions assume the dryer had extensive use. This sounds like a factory defect issue!!!! My brand new Maytag Cabrio gas dryer is also making an obnoxious buzzing sound that seems to cycle on and off as the gas ignites. The buzzing sounds electronic not mechanical. What would buzz when the burner is active?
