My camera doesnt' work indoors. i try to take a picture and it doesnt' take when I'm in AUTO mode. However, when I'm in LANDSCAPE mode the pic will take. it seems like the flash isn't active in AUTO...

You must have a software glitch because the flash is supposed to be in the auto mode when the selector is in auto, unless you manually turn the flash off and the flash should go back to auto every time the camera is turned off and back on. Here's a work around. Turn the dial to indoor and use the flash button on the ring to set the flash to auto. In the indoor setting you can set the flash to on, off, or auto.

In a not so bright area,if u take a picture without the flash it will be all blurred and if u use flash then it comes too dark.

#1: takin pic w/o flash, please make sure you are in a well-lit (sunlight lit is best) area. please make sure focus is not moving, and camera is not moving. when green box appears, please be very still to get clear pic. i donot use flash, flash does exactly wat u say. so i use "scene" w/o flash.

My Nikon D40X won't take pictures, only makes squishy sound

take the batteries out of the camera and the memory card..verify that the memory cards are good by trying them in a printer or another cam..
other thing is you might not be in picture taking might be in the settings mode..check the user manual if you don't know if you are.

Re: Canon powershot A710is When taking a photo with flash it seems to stabilise well, but withou tthe flash - my pictures are ending up very blurry. I am not sure if I have messed up the setting some how,...

I use a Canon 640 and had the same issue several months ago......except the 640 does not have stabilization. In trying to remember the cause I finally discovered I can not absolutely pin it down.......but I am pretty sure that I initially resolved a flash/no flash picture issue by simply resetting the programmable doing this I discovered that I may have not been using the "auto" setting. As long as I use auto and turn off the flash manually I get great quality. I think your blurry issue is the result of setting/s other than stabilization, which you get auomatically in the "auto" setting. I have found that with the exception of shots which require a tripod, for various reasons, that it is easier and faster just to go to "auto" and the manually set the few things you may want to change....usually the flash and macro.

An aside..... have several cameras but my 640 produces, by far, the best quality (color and focus) of any......even out the window at 70 mph.

If none of the above work I think one quick exercise would be next.....using either a tripod or just a flat surface, take pics just as you have described except use a two second delay in order to make sure that you are not influencing the results
