Make sure the positive and negative match up between the receiver and all speakers. I had the same problem and 1 out of 5 speakers had the wires backwards.

My pioneer pl-200 doesn't play loud enough through my pioneer vsx-521-k receiver

The PL-200 has no pre amp and your VSX-521 has no phono input. You need an RIAA preamp.

My receiver turns of when i raise the volume and when i press the super bass button.

Check your wiring and connections, make sure positive (red) goes to positive on both ends and negative (black) goes to both ends. A lot of times these Receivers will have a "saftey" auto shut off if the wiring is old, incorrect or exposed. This is to ensure your amplifier doesn't short out if turned up to higher db's.

Will not tune any radio station, fm or am. everything else works fine. May be damage resulting from lightning, through the antena input.

It is very possible the fm tuner pack is damaged from lighting,if you have voltage going to the fm tuner pack im sure your tuner is bad pioneer part number for your tuner is AXQ7231

Pioneer VSX-D509S keeps shutting off

Aside from any intrinsic problem with your receiver, the usual suspects are;
1) Poor receiver ventilation. 2) Very high levels of bass. 3) Shorts in the speaker wiring. 4) A rubbing loudspeaker voice coil.

I have a Pioneer VSX-4900S that when first turned on (cold) the right channel doesn't work unless I turn the volume up loud or let it warm up and roll the volume knob up and down. From then on it works...

Hmmm, that almost sounds like a bad solder. As things heat up, they expand. When there is a bad solder (even if you can't see it) as the unit heats up and the pieces expand, the contacts at the solder point will meet and allow the circuit to complete, thus producing sound through the right channel.

Take a large magnifying glass, and with it, examine the bottom side of each of the circuit boards, looking for a solder point that is not well formed.
