42pf7321d/37 phillips plasma tv

When i turn the tv on i see on the left lower side below the espeaker a green led going on and then the tv makes a sound as if it was shutting off by itself and then i see a red led blinking 4 times every five seconds on the left lower side.
No picture, no sound .
i did some research on the internet and on phillips web site i found a update for the tv's software, this software is supposed to fix this kind of problem, after i finished whith the update the green led would stay on when i turn the tv on but still i have no sound or picture.

I openned the back cover and i can see there is a little board snatnd upright on the mainboard where it says "ALARM SIGNAL" and it flashes 3 times every 2 seconds, in front of this little board it says:

    1:VA

    2:12V

    3:VSCAN

    4:D3V3

    5:VS

    6:VCC

    7:VSET

    8:VE

    10:PFC

    11:OVP

    13:D5VL

I guess the problem would be the #3, i also checked all the fuses inside, i don't know much about these things therefore i don't know exactly what the Y sustain board and Yscan lower board, it looks to me like the problem would be more software than hardware but then again i don't know, thanks for the help so far and thanks for any further help you guys can provide.

This is the only place where i got at least one answer, PHILLIPS didn't even want to stay on the phone with me because is out of warranty, the tv is only 15 months old phillips had a 1 year warranty.

I have a Philips 42PF7321D/37 model 42" plasma TV that just shut off on me a week ago. When it shut off, the green LED power indication light turned red and blinks 4 times. I saw on a post here a list of fault codes, mine corresponds to the D3V3, although, I do not know what that is. Nor do I know where to source parts... I'd prefer to get the parts and make the repairs myself. I work at a research center and I'm pretty handy with electronics, but without any info I'm stuck. I'd rather not pay the local repair shop that Philips refered me to the ~$400 - $500 that they guessed it would cost... On a two year old plasma...

    Any help is appriciated...

They provided some excellent info. I had the same thing except 7 blinks and it was the power supply board. Let me give you something to check. Check the 4.7 ohm white box resistors that are in series and see if one of those are burnt out. It is near the 2 black boxed relays. If so the power supply board is definitely an issue.

I am familiar with this power supply in philips models. this fault code on the psu refers to a fault within Vscan circuitry. you will be unable to check correct voltages as the set is in protection mode.

you can disconnect the Y-Sus board(to the left of the psu) and if the led stops flashing you can almost guarantee the Y-Sus pcb is faulty!

Hello andy

You mentioned your familiar with this board. my flashing stops when the Xsus is disconnected while leaving call other connections intact to the PSU. would this mean that the Xsus is bad?

Open the back cover and disconnect the Vs power supply to the Y Sustain Board.
1. Check Vs voltage on the Power Supply Board when you turn on the TV. If Vs is not there, then replace the Power Supply Board.
2. If Vs voltage is normal on Power Supply Board, then replace the Y Sus Board + Y Scan Up & Y Scan Lower Board.

42 inch philips plasma tv model # 42PF7321D im pretty sure that one of my speakers are blown on the right bottom side it sounds really annoying i just want to know how i can fix it myself or how much it...

Here's the main support page for your unit in case you need the User manual or other documentation:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=us&ctn=42PF7321D/37

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read the USER MANUAL - PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there.

Assuming the warranty is expired, you should have no problem disassembling the unit enough to access the speakers with just a phillips screwdriver.

Normally you just lay the unit screen side down on a soft flat surface like a bed. Just make sure nothing will gouge or scratch the screen.

Then just remove screws for the stand and pull it off (see page 2 of the Online Owners Manual).

After that you can remove all the screws from the back panel and remove the plastic enclosure.

You should be able to access the speakers from there.
Here is a link to some spares from EBay:

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=Philips+plasma+speakers&_sacat=0&_odkw=42PF7321D%2F37&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

I didn't actually see any speakers for your exact model, but the online selection changes constantly so you may just have to get lucky and spot one that will fit.

The other option is to just go into your MENU and turn the speakers off. Then just use the rear outputs to feed into a home stereo / home theatre system for your audio.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

If this was at all helpful please click on the 4 Thumbs Up helpfulness rating icon you see on this page.

Thank you very much and good luck.

I have a Phillips 42in plasma 42PF7321D/37 when you turn tv on green light lights up you have sound and picture flickers a few times and then picture is fine and looks great. Noticed menus are hard to see...

I would certainly say the problem is in your power supply. Chances are real good that two capacitors are bad! You will have to remove the back cover...this is tedious and requires patience. You will be concerned with the board on the left side. You will have to remove the screws on the power board to lift it and see the top of this board. You should see at least one bulged capacitor. Replace, and you can bet the other next to it is bad. And another note..there may be a small cap at about 16volts at 10Mf that needs attention. These are clues and should help with repairs! Thanks for asking.

Ur power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics’ and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get ur tv power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

That blink don't mean nothing. Measurements need to be made. Don't just buy the board troble shooting would need to be done to see witch board is bad. Also look on the fron of the set and see how many time the led flashes. That wher your error code comes from..
