Logitech x-530 speakers connected to Highlander DVD recorder

Hi, I have just connected my Logitech X-530 speakers to a Highlander DVD recorder. When I play a dvd on the recorder I get all the background noise but when peple talk nothing comes out. I have plugged the red & white RCA cable into the SL & SR connectins on the DVD recorder un 5.1 surround option.
When I play the TV via the DVD recorder it works with Surround sound fine. Any idea what could be causing this

Hi, I bought recently a new 5.1 Surround Sound System Logitech X-530 and want to connect it to our new LCD LG 32LD450 HD TV. The LG TV has apart from all Digital, Optical and RCA Connections as well one...

You can't connect the speakers to your TV. I doesn't have any audio output available, just inputs. Those are for connecting the audio from sources like DVD players, and they go in to the TV's sound system. But there's no way of getting the sound out except through the set's internal speakers. The surround system you got is great for a computer, but it's not what you need for TV use.

The only solution I can offer is the suggestion that you invest in a home theater receiver. You can get decent basic systems with the receiver (often with DVD/audio CD playback capability built in) and surround speakers at reasonable prices. Then you use that to drive the speakers, and use the TV just as a video monitor. Then you will have surround sound.

How do I connect a Logitech X530 speaker system to my Panasonic Blue Ray DVD?

The X-530's only audio inputs are the three analog miniplugs required to connect the speakers to a 5.1-channel PC sound card. Unlike some models, the X-530 doesn't have digital inputs or a jack for connecting a music source such as an iPod.

Can this be connected to a tv/dvd player?

You need the x-530 and the Logitech adapter to convert the 3 heaphone sized jacks (orange/green/black) into 2 rca plugs (red/white), which then goes into your DVD player.

Connecting dvd player to logitech x-530

Well, if you have a DVD-ROM, all you need is a video card with a s-video out to connect to your TV and then you could put your DVD player in your room and play your DVD's from your PC. Another way to do it (without having to buy anything) is to connect the sound of your DVD player to a stereo receiver and then plug the sub into the headphone jacks and the speakers to the sub.
