Re: Mx518 cable problem

Most PC repair shops can make you a new one.
The mouse itself is only around £20.00 / $40.00

It sounds like the micro switch needs replacing inside the mouse. At the end of the day it is probably cheaper and less hassel to go out and buy a new mouse.

MX518 stops working for some seconds

The usb port might not be working fine, try the other usb port. Since the light goes off it signifies that the connectivity with the pc is lost.

if its battery powered thats the issue. 2 other possibillities there is a faulty connection or the mouse is bad. Replace it, return it or exchange it. Also u should take the time to clean it every 2 weeks or month

Red light stop for MX518 (logitech)

either try connecting the mouse to another USB-port or another computer to see whether it works with another machine. IF it does not the mouse is broken and you will have to get a new one.

Good luck

Hi, Please uninstall any logitech software version present on your OS (if available) - Then please proceed to clean boot. ( ) -> Unplug all the USB devices connected to the computer ( Less keyboard + mouse ) please use corded kbd+mouse if
possible rather than a cordless device. -> Go to device manager -> Delete all the USB HOST CONTROLLER -- All of them -- -> The host controller might reinstall them itslef, let the computer handle the reinstallation -> If the computer does not reinstall the host controllers, trigger the detection using the DM function " Scan for
new hardware " ( The computer with magnifier icon ) -> Once reinstalled, clean boot -> Reinstall the software if available and/or plug the hardware when needed. -> Should work.
This TB delete the usb ports " memory " means if a device as been previously flagged with error, it will redetect
the device without the flag, unless there is some serious issue with the hardware/OS
If after this the issue persist, then I suggest you to call Logitech support to issue a replacement, hardware
failures are covered by warranty terms

To work around this problem, turn off the Enhance pointer precision feature: 1. Click Start, click Run, type control mouse, and then click OK. 2. Click the Pointer Options tab, click to clear the Enhance pointer precision check box, and then click OK.
Also see this article from Logitech.

The surface on which you use the mouse plays an important role in its tracking. The optical sensor must use the pattern on the surface to track the position of the cursor. Therefore, using the mouse on a glass or otherwise see-through surface will inhibit the ability of the sensor to track the cursor. Also, if you are using the mouse on a reflective surface, such as a mirror or shiny metal desk, you may experience tracking problems. In both these situations, try using the mouse on a mouse pad or piece of paper. By using the mouse on a white sheet of paper, you can also conserve battery life. Other surfaces that have been known to cause tracking problems are:
  • Some wood grains
  • Grooved surfaces
Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

How do I know it's authentic

Kind of a hard question to answer since there isn?t one simple one answer. Here are some things to look for: 1) Buy from a reputable well know brick and mortar on-line store; if buying from Ebay make sure the person has been selling for at least six months with few, if any bad ratings. 2) If the price is way lower than the open market is charging then it?s probably stolen or counterfeit, none of which you want. 3) Check out the packaging, Logitech?s printing and packaging is very professional looking. If you have a cheap box/CD and poor printing you probably have a counterfeit. Good luck and please don?t forget to rate this post.
