Question about GE Profile J2S968 Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Preheating When I set the oven to bake and preheat it (to any temperature) the oven beeps after about 15 minutes, and the display reads the temperature I set it at.  However, it does not appear to be the same temperature inside the oven.  I have tried a number of times to bake something at the temp. that the oven displays, and it takes much much longer or the food doesn't get cooked all the way through.  We bought a thermometer to evaluate the "true" temperature inside the oven.  The temp. that the oven reads (what I set it at) and the thermometer we bought inside the oven vary greatly.  It will take up to 45 minutes for the temperature in the oven to display the temperature that I set the oven at.  What do we do?

What does it mean when your Samsung flat top oven and broiler will not work and the code reads E-08

E08 Error Message on a Samsung Electric Built-in Oven:

The E08 preheating error code appears if the set oven temperature is not reached within 50 minutes. If this code appears, the reason might be due to overheated thermostats, a defective heater or a defective relay; in which case a repair will need to be arranged.
However, if food has been put into the oven during the preheating time that may cause the error code, since the presence of food cools the oven and so it doesn't reach the right temperature. The error message can be removed by turning the oven off and turning it on again.
To prevent this error code from happening again, the oven should not be used during the preheating period. The preheating period ends just after the sound signal and the icon in the display have turned off. When the oven gives the signal, it's close to the set temperature and your food can be put in.

I need to learn how to use my oven, because i don't know how to turn it on.i need to bake,so can u tell me how?

You can get the manual for the RGB745 at the GE Appliances support site: . Enter the model number in the search box. There are several models that start with RGB745.

On most of the Hotpoint ovens for regular baking, press Bake and use the + or - buttons to set the desired oven temperature. Then press Start/On. Then the oven will display Pre as it re-heats. When the thermostat indicates the desired temperature is reached, the oven will beep. The racks should be on the middle positions for most baking. (For roasting use the lowest positions.) Put the food in when the oven is done preheating. When done, press Clear/Off. Timed baked requires the clock be set correctly, then set the start and end times.

For the older ovens with dials to control the oven, set the first dial to Bake and the second to the desired temperature. Wait at least 10 minutes for the oven to preheat. Again put the oven racks in the middle of the oven for most baking.

Do not lock the oven latch and keep the oven closed through the baking cycle as much as possible. (Rotating pans and basting steps should be done quickly so that the oven doesn't cool much.)

I hope this helps.

The oven preheats, but then "cools down" before I

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

Takes 20 minutes to preheat.

The unit seems to be working ok....usually the temp probe will reach temp in 5 minutes and it will beep....i sugg for cust to let sit for 15-20 mins for precise cooking.

Preheating Oven

Cold Stove, you may not be able to. The issue here is that oven manufactures put on their units a fast preheat. However it isn't possible to preheat an oven for 7 to 9 minutes and bake short time bake items properly. Also the oven sensor will respond faster than the absorbation rate of the sheet metal in the oven liner. To preheat an oven properly takes 15 to 20 minutes before putting in the food. I see this will a lot of current ovens. Sounds like a normal format of the control.

F4 code when preheating oven

That code means "Shorted Oven Sensor". You can find out more about this by removing the bottom drawer, pull it out til it stops, lift it up and pull it all the way out. Now lay down on the floor and look under the oven to the left side. You will see a service info card there. Pull it out, open it up and have a read.

Oven temperature fluctuating

Glowworm, Im assuming your model is a 790.78802500. If your husband is handy with a meter have him ohm out the sensor. It should show around 1091 ohms at 75 degrees or room temp. The preheat is programed so that the manufacturer can get the energy effecient label on the range and what ever perks they get from it. It actually should take around another 10 to 15 minutes to reach the set temp after it shows preheated. You can calibrate the oven by setting bake to 550 degrees. Then press and hold the bake pad again for 15 seconds or until a single beep is heard. Now you can adust temps up or down in 5 degree increments up to 35 degrees by using the slew keys. It will show in the display. Once you have the calibration done, press stop/clear. back
