Extended warranty coverage, is it worth it?

I have a 2005 DeVille with just under 50,000 miles, dealer offering an extended warranty for three years, it's several thousand dollars. Do you think I should anticipate enough problems in the next three years to justify the extended warranty coverage?

In my opinion its not worth the money, you don't need it, chanses are if the car is well maintained it should last a long time before anything major goes wrong with it like engine, transmission and as with most warrantys from a dealer its just for the drive train unless you add other things witch makes the price go up, you say you only have 50000 mi. it should last at least another 75000 mi. I know for a fact ther a lot of cars out there still running with excess of 150000 mi. including my own, Don't let them comercials on TV scare you into buying something you don't need in most cases there talking new replacements no used witch in most cases is just as good. But also your in charge, this is just my opinion.

2003 lincoln towncar low beam headlights dont work

Ford just came out (in April 2014) with an extended warranty for headlights that don't work on the Mercury Grand Marquis. It is a 15 year/250,000 mile warranty and it is called Customer Satisfaction # 14N01. They will replace the LCM (Lighting Control Module for free. Call your Ford dealer to see if they have the same kind of extended warranty program for the Lincoln Town car LCM, or call Ford Motor Company. It's worth a try.

I have a 2007 Touareg V10 TDI with 49,500 miles on it. The factory warranty runs out at 50,000 miles. What are peoples experiences with this particular year and engine relative to whether it would be...

Hello,
There is no dispute to the fact that the volkswagen touareg is a very good SUV in terms of durability and comfort, and its a very good value for your money.I own a 2007 model of this car and believe me i have not had any regret for buying this car, after 2yrs.
What can be deduced from consumers discussion in their forum in relativity to the engine of the V10 is that its recommended to purchase an extended warranty to cover the next 50,000 miles for this SUV and it will really be a great value for your money, because some minor issues might come up in the nearest future with regards to the pluggs, this requires the expertise of qualified touareg engineers.

So i will suggest you buy an extended warranty to be on the safe side so you won't have any cause to regret in the nearest future.

Thanks for using fixya.

Seems the Carrier Bearing is out on my 2008 Ford Edge with a little under 55,000 miles is this common & isn't it still under Ford Warranty?

that depends upon what coverages were offered at the time of purchase, and if you purchased extended coverage. well worth a call to the dealership. they can tell you about any ford warranty that is still in effect. sometimes dealers can work with customers that have a premature problem. in any event, asking if your covered, or if not, will they give you any help, costs you only a phone call. these are tough times , and even the dealerships are looking foe whatever work they can get.

Rough running, no power, smooth running in neutral above 1500rpm, multiple misses below 1500 rpm

Hi, have Ford or Lincoln or Jaguar technician check C.O.P (Coils on Plugs). Now the 2003, 2004 and 2005 models have extended factory coverage to 10 years / 100,000 miles. Information is covered in a Customer satisfaction Program -07M07 from July 2007 that covered the 2003 year. A updae to this Program 07M07, Supplement #1 dated May, 2008 extended the coverage to include the 2004 and 2005 models. The 2003 coverage is for coils and gaskets.

Would the drivers side sun visor be covered under the warranty? It will no longer stay up. The care is a 2006 sonata with about 57,000 miles.

Dear Loose Visor....
If you purchased this vehicle new than this visor still might be covered under warranty...especially if you bought an extended warranty. Some warranty companies cover any and everything from bumper to bumper no questions asked.A sure answer would be to make a quick phone call to either the extended warranty company if you have that coverage or the dealer that you had purchased this vehicle from. Thanks for your time!!! If you have any more questions you can get back to me.HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

Eec fuse keeps blowing on mercury mystique

When you go to wide open throttle, the only thing that happens is your a/c cut out is activated by the throttle position sensor. I owuld check there, but it is very rare that the TPS would cause a fuse to blow.
You may have an engine wire harness that has the wiing insulation decomposing causing wires to short against each other. Peel open the plastic convolute and look for cracks in the insulation. Here is info on a Ford program to repair if less than 100,000 miles on your car.

October, 1999
To:
All Ford and Lincoln-Mercury Dealers
Subject:
Owner Notification Program 99M03 - Certain 1995-1997 Contour and Mystique vehicles - Under Hood Wire Harness - Additional Coverage.
PROGRAM TERMS:
This program provides extended coverage on certain under hood wire harnesses through 10 years or 100,000 miles which ever occurs first, from the original warranty start date. AFFECTED VEHICLES
Certain 1995 - 1997 Contour and Mystique vehicles built from Job #1 1995 through Model Year End 1997. REASON FOR RECALL
Under ambient factors of high temperature and high humidity, certain 1995 - 1997 Contour and Mystique vehicles may be susceptible to the wiring insulation becoming brittle and cracking on certain engine compartment wiring harnesses. These harnesses deliver electrical power to the engine and its cooling and control systems, the climate control, and other power distribution systems. If wire harness insulation cracking is found during the additional warranty period, the under hood wire harnesses are to be replaced at no charge to the customer. SERVICE ACTION
Additional Warranty Coverage
Effective immediately, Ford is providing additional coverage for the replacement of the under hood wire harnesses on these vehicles for a period of 10 years or 100,000 miles, which ever occurs first, from the original warranty start date. This coverage exceeds the provisions of the original component warranty coverage on the affected vehicles and is automatically transferred to subsequent owners at no charge. This additional coverage does not include normal service diagnostic or repair charges unrelated to wire harness brittleness and cracking. After this additional coverage has expired, wire harness replacements will be at the expense of the vehicle owner.
