Problem for Remote Controls
Generic problem for all Remote Controls
Sharp remote control
My shapr remote was working and was playing the movies, now I must have hit something and cant use any of the dials, or turn off the vcr or even eject the movie. Help

Have you tried changing the batteries?
Now it should be disengaged.
Did you try unplugging from the wall?

It is the Sharp 13VT-R100 correct?
If you go to page 18 of the manual it is describing the "tamper proof" function. It sounds like to me that is the problem you are having. Is that correct?

- Press and hold the "TAMPER PROOF" button on the remote for at least 3 seconds. The "TAMPER PROOF" indicator on the front panel will flash and then go away.Now it should be disengaged.

Is the VCR or the Remote flashing
Unplug the VCR wait a couple minute and plug it back in.
Take the batteries out of the remote and put good ones back in.
If that did not solve it, it's better to get a universal remote.
So my understanding is; the Key Button on your Remote flashes and the VCR buttons do not work when you press buttons on your Remote or VCR and you have no way of getting the movie out because the buttons simply do not function and you unplugged the VCR and changed the batteries in the Remote.
Is that the whole story ?
Have you tried using a different remote ?
does the unit power off after a while ?
is there any switch on the back ?
Try looking for switches that you can't instantly see, like reset buttons and such.
Hope that helped a bit.
Please check the model # of both your remote and vcr, meanwhile I will try to find a solution.
Another thing that might work is unplug it and leave it for an hour +.
Check the back for a small hole that looks suspicious, this might be the reset button, press it with a paperclip.
Do you have a Tamper Proof button on your remote ?, if so press and hold this for 5 seconds.
Reset your Remote by taking the batteries out and holding On/Off for 25 seconds.
