I receive the following error... Kodak AiO Home Center has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I, too, tried the repair option and end up with the same error. Does anybody have a solution??

Kodak Easyshare 5500 Downloaded the latest software, now the Kodak AIO Home Center software will not open.

  • nickey399 Jan 20, 2008

I have had this problem for 3 weeks and have gotten no answers from Kodak. I spent 2 hours on the phone with them and they said someone will get back to me, that was a week ago. My problem began when my printer was giving me an error saying the printhead was missing or loose, Kodak told me to download the firmware and now I can't open the homecenter. I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 6 times both from my disc and Kodak website.

I purchased a Kodak EasyShare 5300. It worked great for the first little while. I scanned a few documents and printed one 4x6. I was really impressed, but when I was trying to show it to my mother-in-law the Kodak AiO Home Center software encounters a problem each time I try to use it. I haven't been able to use it since.

I have tried reinstalling and both the solution from Tjmonty and dapiglet. Now I get the same error when I'm installing the software. It's all very disappointing b/c the printer seems like a great one. Especially for the price.

  • Anonymous Apr 02, 2008

I have had this 5100 printer for about 8 months and make many, many calls to Kodak. It has never scanned from the computer, and I cannot get the Home Center to open - I get an error message. This has been going on too long.

  • riverrun1027 Apr 13, 2008

I have an apparently frequent problem on my 5300. My scanner worked fine for months and suddenly, the icon seems to open the program, it appears on the menu when I tab from window to window, but when I try to get to the window, the "restore" option is not available. The window seems to be there somewhere, but I cannot get to it.

I have disconnected the ubs, uninstalled, deleted the program file folder, deleted the registry folders, run your "clear" utility, reinstalled - all without error, but still have the same problem.

  • cappmom5 May 01, 2008

We bought the printer 5300 w/ the camera as a bundle. All worked fine at first, til I did the "recommended" update...what a mess! After countless hours, I have a couple of comments which might help some other frustrated soul. First, thank you tjmonty...I had tried your answer before but it didn't work. After numerous uninstalls, clears, reboots, etc. the brain gets fuzzy and can't remember everything I did, but one time I realized that even though I had turned off antivirus, etc. I still had windows firewall on. You need to go into it and shut it off! After that the home center opened fine! Then I followed your instructions again, word for word, and used your download links, not the cd. Well, everything installed beautifully, and I now have beautiful scans, can pick the program, etc. just like I should be able to! Now, the only issue I have is w/ the easyshare software (not the home center) still giving me the encountered a problem, needs to close error. We also discovered that if you move that aside and don't click on it, it seems to work fine-? Also, for those struggling w/ the scanner, at one point I discovered that even though it wouldn't scan from the scanner, I could go into control panel, cameras/scanners, open it, and it scanned fine. That might be enough for some to use it fine. Hope I've helped someone, and thank you again tjmonty! Bonnie

  • cappmom5 May 01, 2008

Have 2 more things to add which might help someone. I read where sometimes the twain drivers conflict (needed for the scanner), so you should probably uninstall any other printers and scanners, even if they're not in those folders in the control panel. At least until you get this working.

2nd: Just found this message, decided to try it and it worked! Software stays open. Don't know what they are, but at this point, just glad it worked. I didn't join the site to thank him, so if he reads this-thank you! Hope it helps others.

    answer to the problem..

ok.. here's how to solve the problem..

go to the program files / kodak / easyshare software / bin directory

    delete the catalog folder.

then go to documents and settings / all users

you will see 2 files with .m extensions.. can't remember what comes after .m, but delete those files and you're done!

    restart easyshare!

Same problem, can't scan and Home Center will not run. Kodak support was not very helpful. I've downloaded and reinstalled software and firmware to no avail. I will probably wait for a fix.

Various times I have tried to re-install the program by the repair tool in the remove programs option. I have the 5100 printer. Help please!

I needed to reload my AiO Home Center software and no one seemed to have the correct procedure. Maybe if you remove & reinstall yours it will resolve your problem. This procedure worked for me on my XP-machine:
1. got to Control Panel/Printers&Faxes and delete the printer
2. go to your Hardware/Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers, right-click on USB Composite Device and select Uninstall
3. go to Control Panel/Add/Remove Software and remove the EasyShare software
4. disconnect the cables from the Printer
5. download from Kodak.com the program "install_aio.exe"; run the program
(I selected only AiO+EasyShare+Software Updater to load)
6. followed the prompts after the sw installed to reconnect the Printer cables
7. rebooted

WORKED for ME !

I recently upgraded my firmware and AiO software for a Kodak 5100 All-in-One printer for my Vista laptop. I ran into this same issue of the AiO software not starting after the update. After a day or so of frustration, I found a simple solution:

  1. Right click the Kodak AiO Home Center icon and select 'Properties'
  2. Select the 'Compatibility' tab
  3. Make sure the 'Run as Administrator' box is checked
  4. Select "OK"
I hope this helps.

Kodak 5300 all in one printer will not scan. Cannot get on line with 5300 a10 home center program, tells me printer is not connected

try to unplug replug the usb cable of the printer.

You may also go to control panel printer and faxes and look for the printer of your 5300 now if you see 2 icons delete them both then exit to printer and faxes. and unplug/replug your USB cable then restart computer.

If this issue not solve try to uninstall the software and download the clearutility kodak.com/go/clear. then after doing this restart computer.

KODAK AiO Home Center has encountered a problem

you need to uninstall the software and reinstall it, if you have not tried that. For XP Start-->control panel-->add/remove programme-->look for Kodak Printer software and uninstall it. For Vista Start-->control panel-->programmes and features and uninstall the software. Run the Kodak clear utility from http://unexpectedtwist4u.com/matthew and click on clear utility and you can either run it or save it first and then run it. Make sure to unplug the USB cable after uninstalling the software and reinstall the software from www.kodak.com/go/esp3downloads. Kodak phone support is open from 9 am to 12 midnight EST. Hope that works:)

Kodak AiO home Center will not open

My son has the same model and issue. I had him go to http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/dln_ekn034524.jhtml?pq-path=12667 and get the latest software and firmware update.

Make sure to use the dropdown to select your operating system. The page defaults to XP.

The software is a new version of the AIO home center.

The firmware installer updates the physical printer. Before you run this program be sure to read and understand the instructions.

If both ink cartridges have good levels of ink, and you keep getting the clean the print head issue after updating both the software and the firmware, then call Kodak support. 1-800-421-6699, 7 A.M. to midnight Eastern time, 7 days a week. They will ask you if you put in new cartridges and installed the updates for the firmware and the AiO centre software. Be patient. They will get a solution for you.

I'm not sure if you tried this but download the clear utility from kodak here: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/private/xp_vista_98_ClearUtility.jhtml?osXPor98=winXP
You will need to click start, go to control panel, click add/remove programs, uninstall the kodak home center, unhook the printer from computer, then run the clear kodak utility. Try then to reinstall after. I always install the drivers before the software by plugging the printer into the computer and running the hardware wizard in XP and pointing it to the drivers on the cd then I install the software after. If you need more help or clarification let me know. If this helped you please rate, thanks!
